From what I have seen of the Diaz fight (little) Pac was the stronger man, bullying Diaz and making him go where he wanted him to go. No opponent has ever managed to do this to Hatton, not even Mayweather, so to suggest a guy moving up from lightweight would be able to do it is laughable. Pacquiao isn't a superior boxer to Hatton (if Ricky uses his skills) - and I don't think he will be able to carry his power all the way up to 140 sufficiently to keep Hatton off - which spells trouble for him, with the left to the body and straight right - which Manny is vulnerable to and is Hatton's secret weapon. It would be entertaining while it lasted, but I just feel Hatton has too much strength - the old phrase a good big one beats a good little one.... would come into play here.
if cortez is the ref, then pac's chances will go up. cortez would not let hatton go inside pac and will break the action once the mugging starts. seriously, hatton is a different animal than david diaz and should be the rightful favorite if he and pac fights.
I agree! I like Pac and he is one amazing talent and fighter but I think 140 might be biting off more than he can chew....not to say Hatton is a better fighter or would be able to beat PAC if they were the same size, but from 106 to 135 is a HUGE accomplishment....going up 5 more pounds to 140 is just crazy! It won't be a blow out but the power and natrual size advantage will be apparent IMO.....but it would be awesome to see PAC destroy or beat Hatton at 140....I'll be rooting for PAC to make history AGAIN....I'm just not sure if he can do it against Hatton who is very solid at 140. I disagree about Hatton's chin...he's got a decent chin but he's only be hit flush 4 times or so by decent to good punchers and he's either been KO'd, Rocked, buzzed or hurt everytime.
LOL! This is a fight PAC could actually win! Hatton is a bully and so is PAC....but Hatton has the size and strength advantage so I lean towards a Hatton win.....but with Paul! OMG....PAC would be far to active and un-worried about getting hurt....this fight would be a KO or UD for PAC with out question. Paul is slick, but in terms of speed PAC is faster and a lot more powerful. PAC wins this one without much doubt.
Pacquiao would hammer Malignaggi. Enough said. Hatton is 43-0 at 140 and has never looked like losing, and has imposed himself on each of those opponents without fail - and would do so here. Pacman would make a real argument of it, but I just cannot see any current fighter beating Hatton in the ten stone division.
Hatton does have a good chin - most of his recent opponents have had 50% KO ratio or more, which indicates decent pop to me. If he had a better defence, many would say he was granite chinned - but because he gets caught flush so often people question him. I bet not many fighters have been caught as flush as often as he has in a 45 fight career and been stopped only once - and the ringpost had a fair bit to do with that, because he looked pretty strong up to that point. The right hand in the 8th was a far harder punch, which forced him to grab Floyd.
How mannys power would weigh up in that div i dunno but i can see him hitting hatton at will. Can manny be elusive enough to keep from being walked down...., i think so also. Gut instinct is hatton could get cut early from some of mannys flurries and maybe a stopped on cuts.
Actully Hatton hasn't really been hit flush all too often....mainly b/c of his style....he is so "on top" of his opponents that non of them can really get enough room to hit Hatton with any real meaningful punches....Hatton simply overwhelms and engulfs his opponents leaving them little opportunity to get that much needed distance to do damage. Floyd had the wheels to get the distance and caught Hatton flush more times than he has in his entrie career. But there have been very few who caught hatton like Floyd was able to do....Floyd was just too fast and too skilled.
He's got a decent chin but again......Kostya only hit Hatton flush once and it was one that Hatton was able to brace for....he saw it coming. KT has crazy power but hatton was able to fight his fight and smother KT for the entire fight.....that one right was the only flush shot that KT was able to Land and again....I think Hatton was able to prepare and brace for it.....He's been rocked a few times by only decent punchers.
Vince Phillips certainly had Ricky in a far worse state than Lazcano did - one more and he would have lost his 0 back then.
:huh :think:think:think:think:think:think hmmm... need to rewatch the fight once more. and the juan urango fight?
Urango didn't get him that often to the head, it was mainly the body - but to be honest I fell asleep whilst watching it, and have fallen asleep watching the replay - because it was bloody awful.
