The referee should have ruled a knock down when Marquez was staggered by Pac and held on to the ropes. Here is an excerpt of that article in the ESPN site: Hard rights landed flush on Marquez's face while lefts softened his midsection. The accumulation of punches would set up a left that sent Marquez sprawling into the ropes with seconds remaining on the clock. Referee Pat Russell ruled a knockdown. It should have been scored 10-7.
I think I scored it the exact same but couldnt split them in rd 7 so I ended up with 115-113 Marquez. I remember nearly giving JMM a 10-8 rd, I think it was rd 8, I thought he won the fight. It was close but clear enough. :thumbsup
Even if this were true - which is debatable - then my card drops from 115-113 to 114-113 for Marquez. :good
If it was a KD, meaning Marquez holding on the ropes to prevent himself from falling down, why should you score it in favor of Marquez? It should be 115-113 for Pac because of the two KDs which should 10-7.
I had the first one for Pac. Ive seen this fight many times and will not be convinced otherwise. Jutras' card is an absolute farce, it basically said that Pac won the first and only one other round, which is complete crap. Rounds 2-12 Marquez was the better boxer, he won more rounds but just not enough to turn around the 1st round deficit. Thats how boxing is scored..Pac won, was he convincing? No but he had the better score in the end. Second one I had clearly for Marquez. I think this fight showed he was the better fighter, at least H2H. I want nothing more to see a 3rd fight. Both looked very good at lightweight but if it has to be at 140 so be it.
I'm a fan of JMM but there is no way he pulled out a victory especially with getting Knocked down in the fight. 115-112 PAC.....Good competitive fight like the first time, but this time the judges got it right and PAC didn't get shafted.
