So just because he hasn't been doing much leg exercise means he should do something that is relatively ineffective when compared to others that would be more worth his time? And in all actuality, if he is just beginning, simply squatting will be enough as the neuromuscular adaptations that most new trainees will get are incredible and he will have little to no need for any type of isolation at this point.

    Yes.

I do not have time to explain the finer points of neuroscience to you, so silence yourself.

If you do not then the thread starter may follow you to his doom.

    Check my training thread.

I got up to 450 without practicing the squat very much.

Build up to heavy full squats. Some Olympic lifters can beat would class 100m sprinters over 40.

How exactly are squats and lunges bad for a beginner?

And you weighed close to 300 lbs. if I'm not mistaken? How are your sprinting speeds, if you don't mind me asking?

You are not only mistaken, but have made a preposterously moronic assumption.

I will talk to you no longer.

Do you always get like this when somebody disagrees with you?

OK, something in the range of 270, I remember. Little more or little less, perhaps. How's your vertical? What can you hang clean, or power clean?

    Back on topic, girls.

When doing squats, Is the weight or the form more important with squats? I had what I belive to be an acl tear years ago in my right knee. I no longer feel much pain on it, especially since my epic weight loss. But I do seem to "shake" or buckle, when excessive demands are put on it.

As with anything, form is critical. Just so you know, going parallel or below actually places less stress on your knees than doing those "quarter squats" you see most guys doing. The reason is when right above parallel, most of the weight is supported on your knees, and then reversing the weight at that angle puts a lot of stress on your knees.

Form. From everything I've read, and with my own experience, having the form right even if with lower weights is more beneficial than hurling around a high amount of weight incorrectly, and also a lot safer than that too. Also, from my understanding, just when you begin doing squats will have an effect on your muscles and overall body, from the amount of hormones it causes to be released or some such.
