I'm absolutely gutted that Bernard has signed to fight Jones's corpse

I'm in shock. I have always been a big supporter of B-Hop, but this fight boggles the mind. What is he thinking??? :huh

Exactly. Pointless, pointless, pointless. Hopkins always has credibility because he always fights the best. I was hoping he'd fight Adamek, but I would have accepted Danny Green since it was at cruiser, or Dawson or even Paul Williams. But Jones, who has been shot for going on 6 years and was KO'd in a single round by Danny Green in his last fight? I'm dumbstruck at this.

Maybe you guys just don't understand.

Hopkins don't owe any of you fans ****! He is fighting this fight because he wants it.

But for his entire career he has had to live with Roy Jones talkin cash **** about how he whipped his ass as a young man. Maybe you guys just don't get it... BHop is a fighter. He is also a proud man. He would fight Roy if it was 5 years from now. And I don't care if Calzaghe is in a wheelchair, BHop would sign at the drop of a hat to get him out of retirement...

So ****. It's a **** fight and B-Hop should be better than beating up a shot fighter.

"We're ecstatic that the fight was made and we're looking forward to a great event. There's been a long-standing rivalry between two of the preeminent boxers of our generation. This fight will establish once and for all who is the better fighter between Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. This is the fight Roy always wanted."

    :think:roll:

I just hope there is a 24/7. At least that'll be good.

Well, that very well may be true. And I agree that he is entitled to fight anyone he damn well pleases. However, PPV?:huh

Just like you , other fans are entitle to their opinion. Either boxer can fight whoever they want. That is their right. When people see it for what it is they will voice their opinion. This is just like the Tyson vs Lewis fight. To late for it to mean anything. If you still like it so be it but other don't.

I disagree. He isn't entitled to fight anyone he pleases. Boxers only make money through their fans paying to see them fight. B-Hop's loyal fans deserve better than this utter shite. Hopkins was always better than guys like Calzaghe and Mayweather because he didn't prey on easy opponents, but that is exactly what he is doing now. It's a mismatch and it's the first time since the late 90s that I will not watch a B-Hop fight.

i get why bhop is doing it: he wants money and he wants bragging rights. sure, he deserves a soft touch once in a while but please bernard, don't act like this means anything. roy beat you with ease when you were both close to prime, you beating him means absolutely nothing now. you will win, you will likely knock him out but roy still owns the only real victory between the two of you. cash out and retire

I think Tyson was still ranked in the Top 10 HW's at the time, it might have even been Top 5. He hadn't been brutally KO'd three times already either. I agree he was shot though.

I'm not so sure this will be the mismatch you are talking about...:think :huh :?

I actually think both of these guys will be at their possible best. And I think as a 43 or 44 y/o fighter who puts his ass on the line, he is pretty entitled to fight who he pleases. I am a huge fan of both of them. I am excited to see this.

You will be surprised at how many people actually tune in to see this.

Do you really think B-Hop was close to prime in '93? I would say it was at least 6-7 years after that when he reached his absolute prime.
