I favour Martinez, because he hasn't really been in real trouble in his last fights, but when he gets in trouble he becomes and animal! I can see Chavez Jr being stopped.

Like martinez said. "take a picture of your son". I love it. I hope he hammers that kid. Aside from Lee, who has jr fought...

What the hell are you scared of? Damn, I'm telling you, Chavez will get the ass kicking of his life exactly how Pernell Whitaker did to his father, but this is going to be worse. Martinez is too fast, smart, great southpaw, and will have jr looking foolish. Trust me, Chavez will finally get exposed. Remember, this is not the great legend Julio Cesar Chavez Senior, it's his son that has very slow hand, feet, flat footed, no defense, and he will never catch up to Martinez. Martinez wins easy unless Arum buys the judges, referee, commission, Chavez avoids the urine/drug pre test as usual, gloves aren't inspected, fight location changes to Texas and the Mayor, City Council of Las Vegas aren't having dinner with Arum the day before the fight. Otherwise, it's an easy win for martinez, maybe even a late round stoppage. BET BIG on this one even though the Chavez folloing will make him the favorite. Great opportunity to win big on this one. :smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke

The size doesn't matter but the skill does it matter.:D

BTW, Chavez Jr. is just a little taller than Martinez, but not 4-5 inches as you said. That's an exaggeraton!

The height difference is 2 inches but Martinez has a 3 inch reach advantage.

I'm tired of Sergio fans feeling like he's going to get overwhelmed. Where the hell is your confidence? He dealt with Williams' pressure just fine. He beat a bigger, stronger guy in Pavlik, didn't he? Are you telling me Chavez is 10 times better than those guys - because if he is then I can understand the concern. But nothing tells me Chavez is super special. He's improved and is coming off a great win but that's exactly why a fight with Sergio is tremendous. Would you rather have Sergio fight someone green? That would be too predictable and boring as hell.

Watch the Jr-Lee fight carefully. When Lee was using his jab Jr. had a tough time with him. It's when Lee allowed Jr inside we saw Andy go downhill. Lee's also slow as hell. Sergio is faster, much more mobile and has a good jab. He also has ability to adjust which sets him apart from a lot of fighters.

Even if Sergio loses you have to respect the fact that he took on a dangerous opponent. Martinez was getting flak about picking on smaller fighters. Fighting Chavez should put all that crap to rest.

I don't think Lee allowed Chavez in. Chavez knocked down the door and invited himself in.

There is a feeling that Chavez is bigger, stronger and faster than Pavlik. Chavez is probably one of the purest pressure fighters in boxing, in the mold of Margarito, who beat Martinez. Non-stop pressure, combined with size and a solid chin is a problem for anyone.

I know one thing for sure. Martinez is going to start fast and bank the early rounds, while Chavez try to adjust and try to catch him. If Martinez main his pace and move away quickly, he's going to win at least 8 rounds and run away with a decision.

Chavez is not effective from long range. He's decent at mid-range, but he's a monster at close range. Martinez's strength is his ability to move around and not allow fighters to get close. That's his biggest advantage in the fight. Even if Chavez walk through Martinez's punches, he'll still need to catch him.

Sergio will tko him late, just like all his latest opponents

measure out, then keep countering with that slick left, then, when Chavez gets worn down, go in for the kill

Exactly. Same thing happened against Vera and McEwan. He hurt them both really early then proceeded to go for the KO the rest of the fight instead of following the gameplan.
Well, he hurt Chavez in the first round and tried to get him out of there in the next few rounds. In Lee's defense, many of those shots(especially the right hooks) would have done serious damage to almost any other current MW...
