Watching his fight with Hagler, Hagler will get him against the ropes and start mauling him. To the body, to the head, to the body, to the head. Then, with a single left, no leverage to it, he'll smash Hagler high on the head, and get him to voluntarily back off halfway across the ring. Hagler'll then stand there and eye Eugene for a while and try and figure out what the **** to do. Had to of happened half a dozen times. Funny seeing Hagler getting the hell out of dodge against a near shot late career Hart. Just shows the stories of him cold cocking heavies in sparring is probably true. He also lifts Hagler off his feet slightly with punches. :yikes
Also, at the end of round five Hart scrambles Hagler's brains with his left hook. Hagler, instead of returning fire like he has and always will tries to dig into Hart's chest and hold on. Hart hits him a little after the bell for the SECOND time and instead of getting pissed like the first time the stunned Hagler just walks back to his corner. Nasty.
And to continue to ramble... At the beginning of round six Hagler is still obviously stunned. He bops himself on the head coming out, and for the first 45 seconds of the round or so does nothing, just hangs in there. At one point even his consistent, educated jab is sloppy. I honestly think he stunned Hagler more than even Hearns, and it makes since considering Hagler said no one ever hit him harder.
Eugene certainly looked explosive taking out Stan Harrington in the 1st you could be excused for thinging that you were watching a young Thomas Hearns going in for the finish. !
He also took out Stanley Hayward in one. Explosive is definitely a good way to describe Cyclone Hart.
Wasen't Hart on of the Philly Middleweights Hagler had to run the gauntlet of on his way to the title? Along with, Bad Bennie Briscoe, Willie Monroe, Bobby"Boogaloo"Watts. All fearsome contenders. Hagler cerianly did earn his dues when he finally won the belt from Alan Minter.
No, not even a shot, sadly. At least Briscoe got a few, you know? Hart had a very short peak, and after he fell out of the ring and cracked his friggin' head out in a NC, he seemed to lose it.
""I know that anybody I hit with a punch, I'll knock him out. The main thing is to hit the guy just right." - Eugene Hart
Is his fight with Harrington on video? His fight with Hagler was strange, he just went nuts in the corner and quit. He wasnt really getting beat up, I thought he was competetive.
