They repeatedly said that Larry wasnt retiring but he was moving on. Also they said he wsd cslling his final HBO broadcast. Very specific language. Maybe the boys put that muscle/pressure on him?

His contract expired, but it was a mutual agreement before hand.

Was pretty abrupt wasn't it? I hadn't previously heard anything about Merchant planning a retirement. Then again, I don't keep with the Larry Merchant news.

It did seem strange that the official announcement of his retirement was barely 48 hours
    before the broadcast.

He might have lost a career bet on the Pacquiao-Marquez fight. Why all of a sudden, why after the Pac fight?

They wanted to push him out a few years ago when they hired Kellerman, but there was enough pushback that they give him a little more time. Love Larry, but it was time for him to move on and hopefully retire.

Kellerman's playing the background now for the last couple shows.
Would have liked to hear his fanboy reaction to the Pac KO.

Instead we got Larry's same ole line.
(Same one he used in the Jones jr. Fight KO)

"And we ask ourselves is THIS the last time we see ____ in the ring again?"

Ya they probably did, if so, **** them. Now there is 100% percent reason to watch HBO boxing on mute.

You mean its time to listen to Kellerman on that new bose surround system. I might be the only person who has HBO and would watch the UK streams if I was watching at home.

yeah, a guy who has fought 6 times in 6 years will have say over who calls the broadcasts for the other 80 shows over that period of time

He's becoming senile. I'm sure it was suggested that it would be better for him not to be on the commentating crew any longer.

Did he really not know the significance of "pink gloves", or did he just not remember, in his old age? It was getting to be too many moments like this. Best not on national tv.

Thats why I posted that if I was a boxing writer I would have asked him about what floyd thought about the Heredia comments. I got a funny feeling that oscar sent a text to Herschman after the postfight conference saying " You guys must want Floyd at Showtime"
