    For a catchweight at 164.

It's what the fans want to see

Yes - if Sergio beats JCCjr, and I think he will, I would love to see him fight Ward.

Unfortuantly I think he wont go up, he is stuck in MW limbo between Mayweather & Ward.

Well Sergio is always saying that he wont rest till hes pound for pound number one, the best path to achieve that goal is to face Ward at 168(no catchweight BS) and beat him, thats his best chance cause if hes waiting for Mayweather or Pac to move up or to even fight him at 154 he will wait forever cause thats not going to happen.

Sad that two of boxings most talented black American fighters refuse to fight Maravilla on his own terms..

He would be overwhelmed. Ward is at another level in terms of skills, dimensions, and youthfulness. Add the fact that he's got a respectable size advantage as Martinez is already a smaller MW. He basically would have no real path to victory. I admire Martinez's ambition to become P4P #1, though. I think he's going to have his hands full with Chavez. I haven't figured out if he's underestimated Chavez or over-estimated himself... maybe a combination. If he beats Chavez I think he would be far better served pushing for a Mayweather fight. If P4P #1 is his goal, as I suspect Ward will still be slightly underrated in terms of P4P ranking when the whenever the new rankings come about.

Absurd. Martinez is barely a full middleweight.

Why? So he would be forced to move up to SMW and fight in Oakland? Why can't Ward move down to 160 and fight Sergio if he wins? Dawson, who was clearly drained, moved down to face Ward, why can't Ward do it? That's right! Because he won't sacrifice himself for a challenge! Same thing with Sergio, why SHOULD Sergio fight at a catchweight or at SMW?

Yea but Sergio did his homework, he knows he ain't going a pound under 153..

I'll bump this up after Sergio smashes jcc jr.

Oh well at least we get void/Alvarez instead of void/Martinez and ward/headaches DIRRELL instead of Martinez/ ward..:-(

Sergio has another appointment. Lets let him sort that one out before we set him up for piece of work like Ward.

Ward has already responded to this, before being asked.

What don't you understand about "I cannot/will not make 164"?

The irony! I think Ward should of fought Dawson where Dawson was clearly at his best too and not weight drained. Dawson made the mistake of thinking that he could make 168lbs safely and it cost him. I think he learned his lesson now. The Dawson that fought last night is not the same Dawson that fights at 175lbs! Not taking away credit from Ward but if people want Sergio to challenge himself why not Ward? Ward could of moved up to 175lbs or could move down to 160lbs and make the same mistake as Dawson. Don't you think?

Ward wanted Sergio but Sergio wanted no part of it.

I understand the size advantage, but if he's willing to call out smaller guys like Pac and Floyd, fight the bigger guys
