JMM was not the major draw here. Anyone who thinks that needs to get off the crack. JMM has never been a major PPV draw.

Boy you haters will never quit:-(

JMM had very little to do with those numbers...Casual fans constitute the majority of ppv numbers and JMM's name does not register with them...You telling me a fighter whose last fight was on free HBO all of sudden could generate those type of numbers? Do you hate Floyd that much that you can't face reality when it smacks you in the face

Floyd has joined a rare pantheon of fighters who can sell fights on name recognition alone..He's in the same category with Oscar, Tyson and Holyfield, a bonafied crossover star

how would that confirm ur right if he fought mosley and the fight did 750,000 buys?? Could mosley do more buys with?

Pacquiao wouldnt do more buys with mosley

jmm wouldn't do more buys with mosley

cotto didnt do more buys than mosley

again no matter how u look at it if floyd is fighting fighter b there is no bigger draw in the sport with oscar retired...that is fact

keep in mind de la hoya-mosley didnt do 750k...

I wouldn't say that. He is a draw, but not on the level of Oscar yet. This fight got a big boost from the hispanic crowd though with JMM not being that well known in America, and last time floyd fought someone not that well known (Baldomir) his fight didn't generate a third of the JMM fight. I honestly thought most hard core fans and casual fans saw this fight as a mismatch.

Perhaps in the same category as Delahoya but thats even reaching for straws, Oscar fought everybody that was out there to fight, Floyd hasnt yet, doesnt mean he wont though time will tell but he should consider himself lucky even if he should be in the same Category as Delahoya.

as far as saying he is in the same category as Holyfield and Tyson that is just out right insane, Tyson and Holyfield both were loved by fans because of the way they fought, how they dug down and put out in every single fight they didnt take the safe route they didnt fight saftey first those two men fought like Warriors they gave the fans a reason to buy a ticket, there is no way Floyd is in this category.

I can honestly tell you this though the fight that was Free on HBO, it did sell out the Staples Center, and in return the fight that was on PPV Marquez vs Mayweather, did not sell out MGM grand.:deal

Oh, I'm not disputing that Mayweather is the biggest draw, I agree he defitnately is without a doubt. What I'm saying is that he is the biggest draw because he fights fighters with huge fan bases.

    Hoya-Mosley did over 900K in 2003.

I dont think it would do 1 million buys no...Bazooka my question though was this???

THE TOP 4 FIGHTS THAT COULD BE MADE IN THE SPORT RIGHT NOW AND FLOYD IS IN 3 OF THEM....I just dont understand how ne 1 can suggest that anyone is a bigger draw than Floyd...

The 1 thing I keep hearing is that Floyd wont do well against a mosley and would only do around 750k....750k is excellent in terms of ppv buys..

THERE IS NO FIGHT OUT THERE THAT IS BIGGER THAN PAC-FLOYD THOUGH....EVEN PAC MOSLEY WOULDN'T BE AS BIG AS PAC-FLOYD...ID RATHER SEE THE MOSLEY MAYWEATHER FIGHT AFTER THE FLOYD-PAC FIGHT...

Here is the kicker, someone is doing a poll here to see who has supported this fight as it stands now this is what it looks like :deal (so this means that he really didnt sell the fight most was from Latinos, then you look at who was at the fight mostly latinos. Floyd is not the draw he is a hated star and when ever he fights someone with a following that following shows up to support their fighter and see this hated star possibly lose)

    Ethnicity Percentage
    White 16%
    Black 21%
    Hispanic/Latino 42%
    Asian 5%
    Native American 5%
    Other/mixed 11%

    Age
    0-20 6%
    21-30 78%
    31-40 17%
    41-50 0%
    50+ 0%

    Region
    Southwest 35%
    Northwest 6%
    Midwest 24%
    Southeast 24%
    Northeast 12%

In a ****ed up economy making over $1million is HUGE. Marquez might have a huge fanbase but I don't see how they are the ones who made this fight sell the way it did.

Most people supporting JMM are Mexican people and Mexican people want to see another Mexican beat Pacquiao considering Pac is called "Mexicutioner". Pac was also P4P#1 at the time and the rematch was HIGHLY anticipated and demanded by people yet it made $400k. IF Marquez was a huge draw his last two BIG fights before Mayweather weren't going to be free.

Like we said all along Mayweather had a lot to do with those PPVs making as much as they did. People shameless said DLH/Mayweather was 110% sold based on DLH and ONLY DLH yet the Mayorga fight, which was also highly anticipated, made $900k and nothing close to what he made against Mayweather. Then comes his other megafight with Pac which many thought has a great chance breaking the Mayweather/DLH record and it wasn't even close to doing so.

Majority of Pac fans claimed the Hatton/Pac fight might have been less than Mayweather/Hatton BUT they got something similar in a ****ed up economy which means the fight should have done over $1.5 million if the economy was "fine". Hey, we can also make ridiculous claims and say if the economy wasn't ****ed up then $1million would have been $3million and a new record against none other than Marquez who had ONLY TWO PPVs before this one. Mayweather made more than what Pac did fighting Morales THREE times in one fight and against none other than Marquez. The proof is EASY to spot if YOU want to.

Not that fight promotions is our concern but I've read somewhere that the promotions of this mismatch fight cost around $20 million or more...
