I'm curious to see if WBC will strip Canelo if he doesn't want to fight GGG @ 160

It will be interesting to see what happens.

This are the WBC middlweight #10 rankings:

1 .- Jorge Sebastian Heiland (Argentina) INTL
    2 .- Arif Magomedov (Russia)
3 .- Michel Soro (France) EBU
4 .- Chris Eubank Jr. (GB)
    5 .- Ryota Murata (Japan)
    6 .- David Lemieux (Canada)
    7 .- Dominic Wade (US)
    8 .- Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (Cameroon)
    9 .- Avtandil Khurtsidze (Ukraine)
    10 .- Andy Lee (Ireland)

Golovkin vs Eubank Jr for the WBC mw title would be a nice fight.:good:yep

Golovkin vs Eubank jr would be a massacre.
What I am interested in is, if Golovkin gets elevated to full champion, how long until the WBC orders Golovkin vs Heiland?

WBC might mandate Heiland / Eubank Jr as Canelo's no 1 mandatory challenger just to avoid a fight with GGG and keep that belt in Canelo's hands.

"The winner of Cotto-Canelo must fight Golovkin," Sulaiman said. "Canelo and Cotto are at an elite level in boxing, and Golovkin has been demonstrating that he belongs there too. This would be one of the biggest fights in history. Golovkin has demonstrated exactly why he is at the level of being considered one of the two best fighters [pound-for-pound] in boxing."

"We can confirm that the winner must face our interim champion, Golovkin. It's a fight that has to happen, the winner can not face someone else." said WBC president.

    ... and then a voluntary defense against 147 lbs Khan @ 155 lbs catchweight:think

Something is fishy right here. I wonder if GGG's handlers have a deal with Canelo's team and WBC to allow Canelo to fight whoever he wants, keep that WBC strap just to build up the fight/hype and create a bigger demand? In front of the media they can say whatever they want but behind the scene it's other business.:think

Also Cotto-Geale winner had to fight Golovkin.:?

The wbc make up the rules as they go along to suit them and there prefered fighters so iv no faith in them making canelo fight GGG next

GGG was considered next for a shot since before Martinez vs cOtto that's a long time ago and he will have to continue to wait

That was before Cotto refused to pay the sanctioning fees, rendering the agreement that the winner must fight GGG meaningless. By Cotto not paying the sanctioning fees, he basically said “I don’t want to defend this title anymore” and “I have no interest in fighting GGG”. But "I still want to fight Canelo”. Cotto broke that agreement which included the winner having to fight GGG. Canelo still won the title fairly on Cotto’s terms, now he’s the champ. Canelo is trying to make the biggest fights out there at Light Middleweight +1 lb. Khan is the biggest fight out there right now, he might as well make fights with 147ers/154ers while he can. Canelo has cleaned out the entire 154-lb division and we all know Canelo is the uncrowned Champ in that division. Given Canelo’s accomplishments in the sport, and all of boxing’s politics, Canelo is deserving of the distinction of being The Man at Light MW and MW until somebody beats him.

We saw Floyd move up and fight DLH and Cotto at 154. Khan moving up to 155 is about the same jump in weight, and Khan may do what Floyd did and stay closer to 150-152 lb or maybe Khan will come in at 154 who knows. I think it’s also fair because Canelo is growing and it’s impressive that Canelo still is able to make 155 and possibly even 154. I just think it’s funny how many are criticizing the 155 catchweight here. I can see criticizing a 155 catchweight or anything below 160 vs GGG in a MW unification fight. But for a fight with Khan, a 147 lber who said recently that he’s grown a lot since being out of the ring. Here’s where a catchweight makes sense. It would make more sense for Khan and Canelo to fight for a vacant 154-lb title, but the commission is demanding that Canelo’s newly won MW title must be put on the line. What is Canelo supposed to do? If Canelo has plans to move up to 160 lb why not stay at 155 lb and make the best possible fights before GGG? We know boxing politics with catchweights and the belts are messed up right now, but there’s no reason for the WBC to strip Canelo when he is the cash cow and is making the biggest fight out there. Remember this guy Khan is the guy that Floyd was too scared to fight and fought Berto instead. Had Floyd fought Khan it would have been way bigger than Berto so we should be happy that Canelo vs Khan was made at a fair weight to both fighters.

Fight will happen in May of 2017, I think everyone involved knows that's when this mathup has a chance to draw huge PPV numbers.

In the meantime GGG blind****s can keep opening up threads about duckelo. :D

Canelo's one of the most disgraceful characters in the game right now. Can't wait until GGG punishes and retires this awkward looking chubster.

I believe they will. It'll happen within the next year, or Canelo will kill himself to make 154 again.

This A List B list stuff is silly If there is a A lister its GGG not El Pollo
The chicken got his "title" from Cotto who stole it from a cripple that could barely walk. Pinky then refused to pay the sanctioning fee which surely means he wasn't really defending any title against El Pollo
After this Bull Feces anyone thinking the WBC will do the right thing for once is NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wbc would probably strip GGG of his interim title or enforce Heiland as Canelo's no 1 wbc mandatory.
