I saw the thread about Floyd's last 4 fights and I'm curious, why doesn't Manny get the same flak Floyd does when it comes to picking opponents? Roach and co. do the same thing and pick favorable matchups after fighters have been exposed.

He does by reasonable, actual boxing fans. I made a thread about this.

And here's the video I posted in that thread.

I've brought it up before. In truth, every top boxer picks and chooses his opponents (unless in mega-fight situations). I remember reading an Ali book and someone was quote in there as saying they "miscalculated" with Norton.

Thanks for that video, I haven't seen that before. Yeah, all the stuff shown is what I've been thinking myself.

I just don't get how one guy can get slammed for it, and the other guy praised as the greatest...heh

Because they don't "like" FMJ. Just like now SSM (WW champ, HOF, coming of a HUGE win) is now old and shot. It is pure hate.

    Contrast that with Manny Pacquiao?

-- ODLH - Weight drained at 147 couldn't even stop Steve Forbes
-- Hatton - Stopped by Mayweather with no trainer
-- Cotto - Fought at catchweight with no trainer, recently destroyed by Margarito and beaten by Clottey
-- Clottey - Didn't look himself, said he was sick, still punched Manny at will

Still somehow they think that Pac has a better resume? Please.:bart

:huh Manny's entire career has been in question b/c either he's facing Old, shot, past their prime fighters or fights guys that b/c of their style it's an easy fight. Floyd and Manny get far too much critisim for their accomplishments which is some bull****.

This is what I've been saying from day one. If manny is "greater" than Floyd than why is Floyd the one who's held to all these higher standards?

People want to see Mayweather fight Williams and Martinez, but there's not much talk about it for pac.

Pac is on the cover for The Ring Magazine one month, but it's Mayweather who gets matched up in all these hypothetical fights against the legendary welterweights of the past.

All this implies that even the Mayweather haters know he's a much better fighter deep down.

They both get their fair share of bull**** critisim for what they've done but the majority of fans who are agaisnt Floyd don't like him b/c of how he portrays himself. He's cocky, brash and confident to the point where folks begin to WANT him to loose and dont' want to give him any credit.

For Manny....his rise has been crazy...he's fighting incredible fighters and dominating and some have a hard time accepting that. So they make excuses to rationalize why he's able to do what he's done.

Bottom line BOTH are performing at a high level and doing exactly what is necessary to be in the postiion where they are right now....and that's the #1 spot.
