I'm not big on shitting on fighters who quit, but i can't see why Ortiz got so much heat for quitting against Lopez, but for some reason Dawson should get a free pass... hmm, don't think so.
(Yes, i know you were talking about the Maidana fight, but he also got **** on big time after the Lopes fight)

Yes, Dawson's and Ortiz' situations were different.
Dawson was never going to win, and the Ortiz fight was still very much open (imo).
But as far as taking punishment goes, i think Ortiz was in a much worse position than Dawson... and at least Ortiz had a serious and incredibly painful injury.
Dawson was obviously taking a lot of punishment too... sure, Ward isn't the biggest puncher, but that's not the point... because Dawson was obviously hurt several times.

Also, a lot of idiots were saying that Ortiz was a massive ***** for quitting against Lopez, because Ortiz had a huge payday coming up... Bull****, Ortiz could never in a million years have been ready to fight Canelo in a weeks time, and he probably knew at the time that his injury would keep him out for at least a few months.

I'm not trying to say that Dawson is a disgrace after quitting yesterday, but if Ortiz was a fair target after the Lopez fight, then so Dawson now (imo), and should not be getting a free pass.

Yes, it took balls from Dawson to take the fight in the first place, but he still decided to quit.
