I spent a long time undecided about this fight. JC is a spectacular fighter, lightning fast, southpaw, strong, tough, everything. However no one is invulnerable and the best way to best way to beat speed is with a jab and the best way to beat a southpaw is with a straight right. Kessler is big and strong and tough too and he's younger and JC has his famous hand problems...

But, I've seen it time and again, the difference between a good fighter and a great fighter is not that the great fighter never gets into trouble, its that despite being in that losing situation he finds a way to win. JC will give Kessler problems he's never had before. He's going to find himself losing rounds and fighting out of his comfort zone. What will happen to him then when he's somewhere he's not used to? Will he focus or fold?

Calzaghe is not stepping into the unknown with Kessler, but Kessler is against Joe.

    Calzaghe 116-112 Kessler

If your boy decides to trade with Kessler its going to be one short fight. Kessler seems to be a very accurate hard puncher from what I seen of him. Calzaghe better use his footspeed and fight at angles cause if he tries to fight toe to toe its lights out.

    Go Kessler!!!!!!

That's bad, Joe is a bully picking on a kid 7 years younger than him. I hope Kessler gets his revenge!

    Amsterdam, two things.

Is it completely out of question that Kessler will win? If he does somehow create a few strategies, show us something he's never shown before in his arsenal, and win, will you say in the future that a prime Calzaghe would have beaten Kessler?

Also, how confident are you in your Calzaghe by late TKO pick? Are you betting enough money on Calzaghe by straight win that if he wins by decision you will still be up by 50%+ more than what you put in?

I bet on Calzaghe by straight win and now I'm trying to decide how much to put on a KO win. It seems very possible because Kessler has never been in with a true elite fighter or a fighter with such huge stylistic advantages over him. The odds are great and even though Kessler has shown he's tough, if he gets dominated by Calzaghe he might start falling apart, especially in front of a massive crowd in Wales.

Ive been thinkingthe same. I mean the clearly very bright Enzo Calzaghe is acting like Joe is the greatest EVER. Constantly saying that Kessler is made for Joe, Kessler is ordinary, Kessler has no tools compared to Joe etc. etc.

I ****in hope he is realistic in his real judgement and preparation for this fight - otherwise its got nemesis written all over it.:viking

Kessler + camp is acting quiet and humble and they've stated that Joe is an extraordinary fighter - but one who tends to slap - and slap alot! The slapping is a fact and they never where disrespectfull.
Kesslers camp is in no ****in way underestimating Joe Calzaghe....but they know what to do and personally I think that Kessler could be the man to end Calzaghes long career.

Joe + Enzo has constantly been talking about Hopkins, Taylor, Pavlik in desperation because they know Joe only has one or two fights left. Hes not as focused as against Lacy. :blood

    Is the pope Catholic?:think

Depends on how Joe looks, if he has no reflexes due to getting old overnight(not probable), then obviously the prime/prime discussion is a different story.

If he's as quick as he was vs. Lacy, and Kessler legitimately wins(not probable), then again, discussion leans more towards Kessler then.

I'm only confident in that it's moderately probable, a wide decision is more likely, but I am going with the late TKO as my official pick and putting a small wager on it. Late TKO is very possible if Calzaghe performs to the highest degree of what he has left.

My massive Calzaghe straight bet is going to be bringing good profits anyway.

I'd personally only go small or medium, as it's a probable chance, but an outside chance.

European fighters in general are not looked down on as much for calling it a night on the stool while having no chance of victory and being thrashed, so if Kessler is getting thrashed and all of his abilities completely nullified, it's very possible that a corner retirement is there, or depending on his chin, a legitimate ref stoppage.

Kessler is very tentative and does shell up too much to beat Joe. If he proves something different and mans up and bombs back with Joe he might stand a chance at landing something vicious. But Calzaghe tucks his chin in and wails away and he is not that easy to get rid of. Kessler will not be able to outbox Joe enough to win and if Joe gets him on the ropes he is a punching bag unless he clinches.

I am picking Joe also, I think is the more well rounded fighter and better overall technician, but I still think it will be close to a degree. No way do I see him getting "Lacyed"... Style wise it is virtually impossible for it to happen. I think it will be a technical fight, with the experience and versatility of Joe coming through.
