Who was a credible fight besides Hatton at the moment?

Shane would of been told for Floyd, Cotto would of been too young/ not ready.

Margo was on a loss, Williams went after Cintron.

(sorry Im also doing something else that requires more attention at the moment)

Of course it's not comparable. I blew it out of proportion to make a point.

It mattered for Floyd as well. Floyd is a much better fighter than this version of Oscar, yet the fight was reasonably competitive. It would not have been had Floyd had a comparable frame.

Cotto, then Williams. Both real and risky challenges that bring very different things to the table.

I have to agree. Somewhere inside I feel boxing fans are entitled to see Floyd in the trenches fighting against the odds just once. To see him chase that challenge.

    Against the odds?

Who would be favored over Mayweather at this point in his career?

It makes no difference b/c the opponents weight is not going to change. Floyd is going to be the same size and weight he would for a 140 fight. If you did not know he is not a fighter that drains to make weight to fight at 140 he would need to do a little draining. Which is fairly easy. He fought up to 147 to chase ODH and big money fights. So your point is mute. If Hatton was fighting a life time welter like a 160pd Margarito or Williams then you have a point. Hatton also fought at 147 before and weighs that amount or more on fight night. NO POINT:nut

If that is the case I'm curious to know why Mayweather demanded the fight to be held at 147. It would be more impressive to beat the man in his own weightclass.

I guess that is why Calzaghe fought Manfredo....:lol::lol::lol: you guys are entertaining. Hypocrites to the highest order.

Put it this way. Zab was more of a threat to Floyd then that one dimensional abc 123 Kessler was to Calzaghe. Or even ODH. Mix and match if you like. Jeff Lacy was like a Ndou character...

Calzaghe fought Manfredo for recognition in the U.S. He still took on Kessler and now wants to fight Hopkins. He's not chasing Kelly Pavlik -- and Floyd is, in Hatton.

    I disagree on both counts.

So, he was Chasing JT pre-Pavlike. JT is a 160pd fighter Your point is?

Who would you rather see him fight? Keep in mind Cotto's stakes werent high till recently.

I agree with all your points but Hatton is undefeated and has a win over Tszyu and there is international intrest in the fight.

Theres no getting away from the fact this is a fight between to physically small Welterweights who might well have problems (esp. Hatton) with the bigger guys at 147. But that does mean it isn't a good matchup and a decent fight.
