my boxing club is a joke, full of fighters who are both arrogant and ignorant, one or two are ok. but they go on like their the ****, so does the main trainer.i watched them fight recently every fight was embarrassing to watch falling all over the place, sloppy as hell ,terrible punches, they look good training , but in the ring, ha. but the thing is ive been goin for about a year and a half, no fights? only 4 or 5 spars? there more focused on the kids, i cant remember the last time a trainer helped me out, but i know i can fight,il try not to come off as arrogant, but both of the times i sparred their so called champion fighter i almost floored him. and i hold back in sparring , i hate sparring, im always focusing on trying not to hurt someone because its sparring, because i consider myself a nice guy but halfway through i realise there thinking the opposite, i let them set the pace,my first spar with him he was holding on because his legs were goin, second spar with him i knocked him back with a jab, then against the ropes i pivoted and gave him a left uppercut to the body , he droped his hands and held his stomach. you think they d give me a fight? i know im a good fighter though. i have alot of power in my punches, yes i know...every poster here posesses tysons raw punching power.. but ive been told by some of the trainers and older boxers, i have decent hand speed, footwork isntt the best, but is getting better. good chin, i think thats done to my aggression. i train just as hard as everyone else if not harder, on the heaavybag i throw all my weight into evry punch, it takes alot from me, but i still keep up with everyone else the main sshole trainer thinks im unfit.. thinks im not bothered, **** him, i step in with every jab, drive my shoulders and turn with every right hand,i have good form, i fight from a crouch , counter punches, bob and weave, alwasy come foward, cant take a few too, im a very aggressive fighter, i went on a big rant earlier with alot of things about my gym that **** me off and alot of points to show that its not because im **** at boxing, but when i tryed to post it my com ****ed up, ill write more with the response i get.. my dad said its because ther a clique, that the right spelling? the trainer know all their dads and **** like that, and its true.. but this is the closest gym to me , what should i do?
one of the older boxers half complimented half advised me, he said i have alot of power and ill send lads flying when i start off, but when it comes to intermidiate ill have to keep my punches tighter, this was 6 months ago, my punches are tighter.all the other trainers help me out sometimes compliment me, but the main one.. alot of the other boxers theyve given fights to within a month, , yes there from the local area.. i eat right i do roadwork , i consider myself to have a knowledge of boxing history, none of the others do. none of them think the speedbag is any use either.i
i dont know too much to say, as i havent had any amateur fights yet, and maybe i misunderstood the extremity of the "clique" situation youre talking about, but in my understanding the only way to get through thick headed idiots is to earn their respect. if you make them respect you by beating their asses in sparring and training 10 times harder than they do, they have no choice but to let you fight. how are they not going to let their best worker in the ring? you say you're a pretty good fighter, then stop being a nice guy and kick their ass in sparring. if you drop them, then get on their level of competitiveness and become the bad guy: drop them over and over and over and over. im not saying get in the ring and be disrespecting of sparring itself by just bullying them, but make them respect your punches in the ring. let it be KNOWN you are the better fighter.
Theres a guy like you at my gym, nice man with power aswell he dosen't like to use it either. With respect, I can't understand how you can not be noticed if you were truley good. If you say your good prove it! Let us know in the future how you get on please.
the main trainer isnt always there the days i train, the other trainers have helped, complimented and told me i get a fight soon, there really more focused on the 13 years to be honest
You aren't the only young boxer in this situation. Sadly there is lots of ****ed up boxing clubs. The only solution is to take responsibility for your own training. If you plan to turn pro and make a name for yourself, you will have to teach yourself how to get knockouts. That won't do you a lot of good as an amateur, but in your situation you will find it almost impossible to get to the highest levels of amateur boxing. What will impress the big promoters is an ability to get knockouts. They aren't much interested in watching you do a waltz. Chances are you won't knockout the top guys anhd win Olympic gold, but if you stop most of your opponents Golden Boy Promotions will be seriously thinking about signing you.
Then whats your problem mate? if you were older id understand, but your the same age. If there hitting you then you should hit them just as hard.
