This is a more eloquent version of what I've been trying to say.

 Not rude at all. I get what you're saying. I just don't think it makes that much of a difference between a stoppage loss and a points loss. And I haven't seen the fight in a bit, but as clearly as Provo was winning, I do remember it being competitive. I just don't understand the bashing Marquez is taking for this. I get Provo would be the tougher fight. But Alvarado isn't exactly a bum. Also I'm sure Marquez is thinking he's tailor made for him. A boxer-slugger than ain't a great boxer and not a great slugger. Marquez should be able to tee off on him. But I think he's earned that right. He is 40 years old. We're not asking Hopkins to take on Kovalev. I think at this point in his career he can fight who he wishes and hold out for who he wants. Just my opinion. I do agree with a lot of what you said, I just think Marquez is in a different situation than your average fighter.

I also don't understand how he (and Martinez) are rated so highly in p4p lists.

Diaz 2? Really that bad? After the first one being FOTY? And how can you say he gets zero criticism when this entire thread is bashing him for his recent opposition.

All time great who's only lost to the best but also beaten the best in the top 10 pvp? Impossible!

JMM is a legend and IMO one of the best of his generation, he's travelled round the world, beaten the best and been robbed on a number of occasions but yet people still question him....not too mention he had the biggest win of his career only 2 fights ago?

Let's face it we only get these idiotic arguments because the guy who he ko'ed cold and arguably beat on a number of occasions is the worlds most popular boxer

    Silly thread gents come on

Bradley and Floyd are the only decisive defeats on his record which spanned 20 years plus, Bradley got his tactics spot on and no one can argue.

As for Floyd well the warrior that is JMM jumped 2 weight divisions to fight the very very best fighter over the past 10 years, when was the last last time that happened?

The more I think about it the most this thread makes me rage

ATG boxer who still doesn't get his just deserves

marquez stopped him in 9 rds the first time. why was a rematch needed especially after diaz had just been schooled by malignaggi:roll: not even the thread creator is bashing him, he said fighting alvarado is perfectly fine.

He stopped him but the fight was very close. One judge had it for Diaz, one for Marquez, the other a draw. I'm not saying it was the best fight he could've taken, but I don't think there should be criticism for a rematch when the first one was FOTY.

Diaz was shot 2nd time around no doubt but I think the competition in the division has to be assesses when looking at these fights, don't forget this was at lightweight and there wasn't much about at that stage for JMM, he was head and shoulders above the rest of the division for a long period prob a bit like Andre Ward atm

He had to take what was there

he could have fought khan but turned down the fight, valero was still alive back then as well ( after the 1st fight). marquez feels he is entitled to fighting bradley again without proving he deserves it so he will continue to take on easy fights until bob makes the rematch.

I agree with the claim for top6 p4p but I please would suggest members to stop clicking on the same key Provodnikov, Provodnikov, Provodnikov, God Damn it. The Siberian made a good effort against Tim and went beyond the barrier of pain plenty of times to inflict damage on Bradley who's top notch in the WW Division no doubts about it. So what you want to do? JMM is a different class of fighter, he may have lost to Bradley but he has finesse, he has skills, he has know-how. He doesn't belong to the rings with these Alvarados and Provodnikovs. Put him against the hot prospects like Thurman or a top IBF contender.
