And for good reason. Shavers dodged a bullet in a young Mike Tyson. So did the whole 70s crew. Shavers would have been another highlight reel KO for prime Tyson.

Being mentally weak is one of if not the worst character trait a fighter can have at the championship level and it's close to the most impossible deficit to hide. But for certain, if a fighter fights at the championship level long enough against plenty of opponents eventually the right fighter will come along and expose it and lose a lot of people a lot of money.

The greatest thing Tyson ever did was hide that deficit for as long as he did against the opposition that he did and beat fighters before entering the ring. Offensively, athletically, and gifted talent-wise the dude was an absolute machine and animal while also being phenomenal defensively in certain areas. He was such a machine in those areas that his unbelievable skill set was even often overlooked by most people with knowledge.

Chalk the end result of this fantasy match up as factual. Shavers is going out. Early. If Tyson could sense fear in you, forget it, and he was as good at sensing his impact on you as someone can be. But if you weren't intimidated by him and showed him, and could either take his best for the first 3 rounds or somehow avoid his best for 3 rounds - that incredible machine would sensationally implode soon after.

No matter what people say, we don't know the truth until their action. If Shavers went into the ring and honestly felt Tyson was gonna work him, sounds like fake drugs to me, not buying them, but I could definitely be wrong and his power could bail him out of serious jams. If he went into the fight compelled to **** Tyson up and willing to die to do it........ I can't think of a worse fighter Tyson could possibly face. He would get taxed in such a humiliating manner he would probably never box after that, if he was actually still alive and capable of doing it.

Shavers was stopped in 1 round by Jerry Quarry. An 80s Tyson stops him ASAP.

    Tyson ko early.

Tyson faster overall and thus connects first, Shavers gets wobbled, Tyson persues, Shavers throws a hail mary right hand!!!

If that hail mary hits, maybe Liston can win, most likely it misses and Tyson lands several more knock out blows and thats it.

    Imo.

Well yea, obviously, that's what I said in my original post, I mean Shavers even said so. The prospect of facing Tyson never crossed his path and he stiil wanted to come out and say he lost without ever entering the ring.

Agreed! He’s definitely up there. The big, bad mythical PRIME Tyson was taken to school and KTFO against Buster Douglas FFS.

Prime Tyson is as close to unbeatable that has ever been seen in boxing.

He would've destroyed Shavers in the first round

    Which one?

The one helped with steroids and trainers to discipline him, or the one without?

The latter was given brain damage by a reluctant contender who never did anything special before or after.

Bruce Lee was the only fighter in history who could have taken Prime Tyson
