In an era full of WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF, IBO, WTF, OMG, ASS, titles, the guy who holds three belts after fighting the best (ATG level fighter in terms of ability) is the best. Not some random schmuck that's feasting on lesser opponents.

Maybe I jumped the gun, but they tried to put this fight together when Kovalev was fighting Agnew, and that's around the time Stevenson had just signed with AL Haymon. Stevenson knew how it would be perceived and instead of trying to work out a better deal for himself he signed with AL Haymon, making him jump to Showtime in the process. He should of fought Kovalev, that was the biggest fight in the division since Jones and Tarver.

Well Stevenson did beat the Lineal champ Dawson in brutal fashion, thus making him the man in the division until he got stripped. Now there's a new sherrif in town, and by the looks of it Ward is going to have to fight him eventually if he wants that green belt.

At the end of the day he was an HBO fighter, same as Kovalev and he jumped ship in the knick of time. What has he done since moving to showtime? What happened to his Hopkins fight? Agree or disagree I think Stevenson ducked that fight, then that stupid fake **** he did in the ring after Kovalev beat Pascal in the rematch was pathetic.

Stevenson beat Dawson in June 2013, and was mandated to fight Bellew but asked for a voluntary and was granted it to fight Cloud but the winner must fight Bellew, that Cloud fight took place in September 2013 and was signed before Kovalev beat Cleverly for his belt in August 2013.

Stevenson then fought Bellew in November 2013 and signed with Haymon in January 2014, there was never room to duck Kovalev.

Kovalev ducked Stevenson when he pulled out of the purse bid and clowns on this forum still as they typically do blamed Stevenson.

Stevenson is a clown. And he's nearly 40 years old.

He'd have a puncher's chance against Ward or Kovalev, and that's it. Otherwise, he'd be destroyed by both of them.

Ok good point. But he knew what the perception would be, he should have stuck it out remained an HBO fighter and foughtt Kovalev in a PPV fight that would of generated a substantial amount of money for Stevenson in the process, if it was indeed money he was chasing. He would have gotten more money from a fight with Kovalev then any fight he's been in since. He should have pursued that fight moreso, instead of looking like an idiot in the ring after Kovalev beat pascal.

Al Haymon is a smooth character and a good businessman, I am not surprised he could convince Stevenson to jump ship.

Kovalev vs Ward had a purse split of 2mill-5mill, I can only assume that Kovalev and Stevenson split less than 7mill (agree or disagree)?

Kovalev vs Stevenson is at best 50/50 for Stevenson split so that again is less than 3.5mill?
I'm thinking 2-2.5 max, similar to GGG vs Lemieux? (but more likely less, say 1.5-2mil)

Now Quillin and Jacobs got something like 1.5-2mill each? I'm thinking Stevenson is getting similar coin with AL?

Is Adonis really getting much less than he would have got if he fought Kovalev who at the time was a nobody?

Do these figures add up to any of you keyboard accountants?

I think that he wears Stevenson down fast and puts a good whooping on him. Remember the Fonfara fight.

Yeah, probably less that 7 mill in total, for a fight in early 2014 when Kova only had the WBO strap.

Yes 50/50 because Cathy duva was able to get Kovalev a mando spot in the WBC, which would have seen it close to 50/50. But I'm thinking about 5 mill in total making it 3 mill-2 mill in favor of Stevenson around the time Kovalev first beat hopkins, maybe more.

Don't know how much he's getting paid, but do know he would get paid higher dollars for fights against Kovalev or Ward than Williams.

It depends on what time frame you want to use. If we go back to when Kovalev only had the WBO, then I'd regard him as relatively unknown. But when he captured all 3 title belts after beating Hopkins on HBO, now the stakes went up because of undisputed, so maybe the money would have went up substantially.

So I'm thinking your point is would Stevenson have gotten more money fighting Kovalev when he was just the WBO champ, which would push you to using the Word "Nobody" to describe him? I think there was less money to be made in early 2014, then there was when Kovalev beat Hopkins. I'm thinking they could have split around the same type of money of Kovalev-Ward at that time, and also being one of the biggest fight in all of boxing at that time as well.

My time frame for calling Kovalev a nobody is between Stevensons Bellew fight and him signing with AL, he was terribly unknown at that time and that is when these fans think Stevenson should have stepped up.

At that time I seriously doubt very much it would have been Ppv let alone a significant fight in boxing.

Since Stevenson has been with AL they have both sky rocketed in fame.

I still don't think the fight would have ever been as big in the US as Ward vs Kovalev though.

When the fight was meant to happen when it mattered the most Kovalev and his team pulled out and you can't point any blame on Stevenson, he was good to go.

If Ward dominated Kov they were going to try and fight Stevenson after to unify. Now they'll rematch Kov around June. Cotto tryna fight Kirkland now too RNS related.
