I'm going to say it..Cotto has always been overrated!

so if he is overated where does that put mayweather his mayweather is actually worse than cottos since most of his wins where against pass times

 

Well props to Cotto because he's a warrior and a class-act.
But Margo still stays one-dimensional and his biggest asset is his chin and heart. And we know what it takes to beat that.
If Cotto just had little more stamina and could have kept up outboxing him for a few more rounds he would've won.
And so can any other fighter.
I mean imo Floyd for example is the master at this, floyd would really make margo look stupid because margo won't catch him.

Two things:

1. Picking Cotto wasn't an ignorant pick. Picking him by KO was. That was my point.

2. I watch boxing, even when I have a good idea what's going to happen, because -- like last night -- there are a lot of people who know less about the sport than I do who are convinced that what I think is going to happen isn't going to happen. Being proven right, and watching things unfold one way or the other, never gets old. If you have an analytical mind as I do, this is what you live for.

Also, there's coin to be made, if you're into that kind of thing. I haven't done that in awhile, but that's another reason why following the fight game can be compelling.

You are right man. this word overrated is too freely used. Cotto's resume speaks for itsself. Cotto is still and always will be a great fighter. Margarito was simply the better man last night. ACtually, I TAKE THAT BACK. He wasnt even the better man b/c Cotto was putting on a boxing clinic IMO for the 1st 6 rounds. He just got gassed and couldnt sustain that energy output. Margarito didnt do anything different the last 5 rounds. It was Cotto who simply got tired IMO.

Anyways, he isnt overrated b/c his boxing skills were on full display last night and you surely cant take that away from him. Even the biggest hater should be able to give hiim his props for the way he was easily outboxing and counterinng margarito.

unfortunately for him, he didnt have the stamina to maintain the one-sided boxing lesson he was giving.

Cotto is not overrated. He has faced and defeated a quality list of opponents. Mosley,Judah,Quintana,Torres etc. Styles make fights. Margo's pace,constant pressure and punching wore him down. Now he is 32-1 with an impressive resume of opponents. No shame in that.

 

You have no credibility. You love Mexican boxers. You dont like any other boxers. This drives every post of yours. Its old.

cotto lose but looking at his record its a pretty good record, lets remember DLH and mosley also took their first loss when they had a record of 30+ something with 0 defeats

Most of this was already said in this thread but I gotta say something about this peace of **** thread.

What. The. ****? This **** seriously pisses me off. Cotto fought the fight of his life and was winning the first half of the fight. Margarito just would not be denied, imposed his will and showed his determination. This fight is NOT about Cotto being “overrated” but about Margaito’s heart and will. Margarito deserves all the attention he is now getting (especially after being in this game for half of his adult life) and anyone who says Cotto was overrated, is downplaying Margarito’s biggest victory of his life. If Cotto is overrated, then how is this a significant win for Margarito? He just beat an overrated guy who was never anything to begin with.

As its been said numerous times, Cotto would have beaten ANY OTHER Welterwieght that night. This was #1 and #2 going at it. Just because Cotto loses he is now overrated? Anytime someone loses and they automatically lose all credibility and are instantly overrated. It’s ridiculous.

Bottom line…Cotto was not and is overrated….Cotto will still beat almost any other WW in the entire world. Margarito is just not a good style matchup for Cottto and he was the better man on Saturday.
