I'm going to say it now, I don't know if Beterbiev

    can beat Kovalev. The thing about this fight is if Beterbiev can get inside on Kov and in the past I used to think so. I don't anymore. Beterbiev leaves himself open at times when he's right in front of you and Kov is a surgeon. But, maybe Beterbiev can raise his game if they were to ever fight barring neither loses and make a great fight. I'd favor Kov over Beterbiev right now.

    I've never thought he could, even their match in the ams was 25-24 for Beterbiev in a region favorable to Artur.

    Beterbiev (like Gassiev) is a very exciting fighter but he needs to be tested against someone in the top 15. Chilemba vs Beterbiev would make a pretty good eliminator, or perhaps Sullivan Barrera.

    I think beterbiev is capable of beating anyone at 175. But seriously, Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev, Stevenson, Fonfara, Alvarez, Chilemba, Shabransky, the other Ukranian dude who won a medal in the olympics, how stacked is this division.

    It's something about when he's in front of you where his head doesn't move and he's open for a straight left or right and while Beterbiev could do damage on the inside, he has to get there. Kov is still untested on fighting a guy who wants to get inside, but that's a testament that he can stick to his game. Kov will trade with you though using his reach. All of the greats had to deal with the Fraziers Durans and Chavezs who are far and few, but can Beterbiev be his Frazier? In my Homey The Clown voice, "I don't think so"! Blizzy don't play dat! Lol

    Beterbiev has talent, and he certainly has the power to KO anyone, but at the moment I think he is too inexperienced and makes too many mistakes to beat Kovalev.

    I agree with you 100% Blizzy(wtf lol) I did a write up on here about a year ago saying the exact same thing, its easy to get on the inside when you don't fear what's coming back at you, but thus far there's yet to be anyone brave enough or with a good enough chin to attempt it with Kovalev, and if Beterbiev naively thinks his chin is good enough, he'll probably pay a dear cost for that misconception.

    From what I saw tonight - beterbiev had some holes and Kovalev I believe can beat him on the outside. It didn't look like beterbiev feared the Argentinians power at all. That may have accounted for a little of what could be perceived as sloppiness. Both the Russians are devastating punchers. Only one way to find out.

    Will the fight get made? Not sure what kind of a put purse they could get - maybe more in Russia? It's a fight I would avoid if I were kovalev. The boxing public may only have the attention span to love one Russian lightheavy at a time.

    He looked rusty, as you would expect after having one year out. And it's not comparable to Ward's situation who, like Floyd, was in the ring every day sparring and training to keep sharp.

    Beterbiev had surgery and then could not train at all until he was fully healed. Naturally his ryhtmn and timing suffered.

    The good thing though is that he has two more fights scheduled for 2016 so if and when he meets Kovalev, ring rust won't be issue at all.

    I think Ward and Kovalev school him... But yeah he would be a favorite against almost everyone else at this point.
