Well Cotto's 2 losses came from fighters who applied constant pressure and broke him down later in the fight and Mayweather doesn't apply constant pressure. I don't see Floyd beating Cotto now or the pre-Marg Cotto because he isn't a pressure fighter he's a pot-shotting defensive fighter who's damn good at doing that but Cotto has some boxing skills and is not just a body puncher. It would play out to be an interesting fight but it's long overdue.

    :ibutt WAR COTTO! :ibutt

Cotto had 2 good rounds against Pac. He would have got his ass handed to him by Mayweather post Margarito, pre-margarito it would have been a great fight, I would still give the edge to Mayweather though.

did Cotto really fight superbly for 4 rounds? He got his ass kicked in the 2nd, knocked down in the 3rd and then rallied, and then really hurt in the 4th. You can say Cotto fought superbly but Pacquiao still outclassed him from the 2nd round on.

I consider Cotto to be doubly damaged goods after his brutal TKO losses to Margo & Pac, I think Floyd would beat Cotto by a wide UD now and he would have still won by UD before Cotto fought Margo, just not as easily.

It's a crying shame the pre-Margo Cotto never fought Floyd. This version of Cotto had enough tools along with his strength and power at 147 to give Floyd a hellish fight. He'd be a 147 lb Castillo but faster. Zab Judah had trouble holding Cotto off and he hits harder than Floyd(yeah, yeah I know the low blows didn't exactly help Zab) Mosley forced him to boxed but had the type of power to illicit that strategy from Miguel.

Cotto's hard jab, tencity, power, strength, all coupled with his underrated boxing skillset would have meant he could do damage to Floyd.....especially later in the fight. He'd miss alot but his sheer bruising power would move Floyd even when the shots were picked of by gloves or a shoulder. I could see Cotto doing damage of some form when he got Floyd on the ropes....and it's unrealistic to think Floyd would never have to reckon with a Cotto assault while on the ropes.

With all the skills that Miguel posses is there even a question as to why Floyd retired instead of pursuing a fight with him.

Now Cotto has a better jab then Floyd? Cotto doesn't do anything better then Floyd. And he is much shorter with shorter reach, slower, less skilled and doesn't have near the ring intelligence. but yeah....he could win :nut

The only thing Cotto has better than Floyd is power and it wont matter. Cotto is also not like "a faster Castillo", Castillo also had 10 pounds on Floyd on fight night and had a higher work rate than Cotto and better stamina. Cotto doesnt have 10 pounds on Floyd now and he slows down in the late rounds while Floyd has excellent stamina.

No way he outboxes Floyd on the outside and he isnt outworking Floyd on the inside cause Floyd has a great inside game and Cotto is wide open.

I think Cotto would give Mayweather problems. Maybe not now - we don't know what he's going to be like having endured three brutal fights more or less in succession - but a prime version of Cotto.

Don't think he'd win, but it wouldn't be a landslide.
