Mate, a report on the tele this afternoon suggested a 'fund raising appeal', much like the 'good friday' appeal. This will attract a massive audience, and donations unsupassed I hope. All will dig deep.
we're very lucky were on the other side of Melbournes northside the fire is on the far south may god be with them.
I see red cross are involved- does anyone know what % actually gets to the victims as that is what shits me about some charities? problem is you need a registered chairty to get the tax deduction. i remember seeing on 60 minutes that some it is as low as 20%?!
From memory they factor in 10% for running costs. Red Cross is one of the better run charities, even with all the volunteers etc there are still overheads that have to meet. I remember a survey years ago and the worst run one who I won't name (think they've since shut up shop) kept 50% of all donations. Strangely enough I got a call from them yesterday asking if I'd do some doorknocking for the upcoming red shield appeal, couldn't really refuse. Used to do it years ago in Victoria, wondering if they have a file on me and have tracked me down...
Coles is donating 100% of it's profits made on Friday to the Red Cross fire relief so get down to Coles for your shopping on Friday
Damn I have $100 in woolies vouchers I was going to do my shopping this week with them..Might have to postpone that. Ill be chipping in the second I get paid..got everything planned out so it goes in as quickly as possible.
I am involved in a promotion on March 20th in Brisbane, we have 2 Qld state title fights planned as main events (Super Feather & Junior Middle) I received a call from one of the boxers James J Giltrow who is fighting for the Jnr Mid title in a rematch against the only guy who has beaten him (Chris Stewart the fight was a split decision after it went to the cards after AHC) he was watching the footage of the fires and decided that to do his bit he would donate his purse from the fight. The next day I touched base with Greg Eadie who is contesting te Spr FW title fight, during our conversation I mentioned what James had offered, without hesitation "Greg "The Butterfly" Eadie also donated his purse. I called my partners in the promo to tell them , and we decided if the boys fighting are that generous then the least we could do is make this show a fundraiser, so all proceeds from the event will be given to the Red Cross to help victims from the fires.(Some of the undercard boys have also put forward there purses) So any ESB boys in Brissy or SEQ that want to get involved get down to the Irish Club , Elizabeth St the city on March 20th, we have 7 Pro fights and 2 amateurs, should be a *******. We have registered the event as a charity with the Red Cross so all ticket sales will be 100% tax deductible. You can get me on #0417 746 264
Yeah I donated $100. I feel for those who lost everything including their loved ones. You think your having a rough trot at times until something like this puts it all back in perpesctive.
