as a p4p fighter or future PPV draw. I can clearly see he is a very talented boxer, but in a weight class filled with grown men the size of 11 year olds. How big is the talent pool really? Once you get below about 126lbs in boxing it starts to get a bit ridiculous.
it just seems like they picked the kid out of the jungle book, taught him how to box and are now trying to sell him as a ppv fighter
1. Gonzalez is a talented champion in a division filled with talented fighters. 2. Arguello taught him how to box. 3. Forza should stick to discussing fighters of Italian descent.
The Gonzalez-Carbajal fights were big fights with the 2 earning big paydays, 1 mil in 1993, 1.6 mil in 2016. Gonzalez-Inoue, Gonzalez-Nietes, or Gonzalez-Estrada 2 would create alot of interest.
the 3 types of fighter recognised on esb: hypejob - good fighter on the way up ducker - proven good fighter who hasn't fought every single guy within 3 weight classes bum - everyone else
Nothing to do with the topic, and most grown men (anyone really) are mostly total pansies that couldn't throw a punch to save their lives
You can make the shallow talent pool argument for straw and maybe junior fly, but González is now a 3 division champion, 14-0 (10) in world title bouts, and has spent over three years entrenched in a very stacked division where he is firmly established as 'the man'. He also has looked stellar both times he dipped his toes in the water at super flyweight, granted against low-tier opposition in Barrera & León but with no apparent degradation of his base speed, power, or reflexes. It stands to reason that he will eventually hold a world title at that weight and either reign for a while to clean out and unify it, or possibly even climb to bantamweight and conceivably become a 5-weight champion. In fact, most knowledgeable boxing people would handicap this outcome as the betting favorite. ...but yeah, okay, don't buy the hype.
González is no Omar Narváez; he is in his prime and actually has the firepower to answer back and possibly force Inoue to retreat. (and then we can find out how well he fights on the backfoot - something we already know the fluid counter-punching González can do) FOTD, anyway. :good
It won't last long enough to see Inoue on the backfoot......Inoue wins by KO2 with a crippling Body Shot.
