I'm kind of astonished that GG and Jacobs are being criticized over

pretty much how i saw it. 2 very good fighters having a close scrap, this 1 fight defines neither fighter.

People are saying that Jacobs fought a good fight and put out a good effort but a losing effort none the less. I happen to think that he fought a good fight and he won that good fight. He didn't get the decision and I can live with that because that's the way it goes sometimes, However, I think that he was the better fighter and the better boxer that night.

I love the fact that you are able act like a grown ass man and praise both fighters on their performances.
A lot of people in here can't do that. They just looking for a reason to tear down a fighter . You have my respect my G.

Exactly. Both guys did a great job, and both showed amazing skills, heart, and chin, but GGG edged it, primarily based on controlling the fight with his jab.

Golovkin should have earned points for Danny's ears flopping around from his punches (talk about Lemmy's punch-counting friendly hair style)
Jacobs should have earned a point for attempted "knee to the body" at rd 8 or 9 :D and holding to Golovkins leg at rd 4 as if his life depended upon that. Ward is a good mentor :D

    Great post Blizzy

But I think GGG won that fight clearly, especially after rewatching, it was tough fight, but he was controlling it.

What I don't understand why people are giving first three rounds to Jacobs? He hasn't done anything in there, after rewatching it I am more confident that GGG took them without any doubt, GGG landed more and clear shots in each of these first three round, Jacobs was backing all these rounds and wasn't active so what is the reason to give any of first three rounds to Jacobs?

Good post. This was a good matchup by 2 very good fighters. Close fight, i felt GGG edged wth the kd, but knew it was so close that the decision could swing the other way. I actually was very surprised at how Jacobs handled the kd, and the attack from GGG following it. He got up and fought back like a champ, i was one of the guys , that felt Jacobs would do well until GGG started to touch him with some power. But Jacobs chin proved solid and he was at 110% for this fight, he put in the work during camp and it paid off.

Its the first GGG fight that I saw a clinch in, mainly iniated by Jacobs. It did show (IMO) thaty GGG is not an in fighter...bring back duran lol

I wish I could agree but I cant. Great performance from Jacobs yes, but not a good outting by Golovkin imo. I know Ive overstated by now but again, the fight was up in the air entering the championship rounds and he barely left first gear against a fighter he knew he could hurt and had even dropped earlier in the fight. His complacency (or his inability to turn up the heat against a fighter of Jacobs size, power and level) almost cost him the fight. Either way.... I maintain that he should have won more convincingly, if not stopped Jacobs late. So its hard for me to give props to G's performance.

Jacobs though, fought a really excellent fight. I loved his focus, his energy, and his will. Beautiful stuff.

Kirk, have you rewatched the fight or done scoring round by round? That would be interesting to read, as after rewatching the fight I saw that GGG was still in control of the fight. The reason for not shifting gears could be just the fact that GGG knew that he did enough for a win and there was no reason for shifting gears.

Jacobs should fight Saunders if Golovkin doesn't. he easily picks up that belt and then a rematch is also for undisputed.
