I'm looking at past footage of Kov and Ward and

<- take off the welding goggles.

 

I largely agree with Blizz's first post.

Kovalev is clearly superior at range but isn't happy fighting up close. However he DID do some work in close, just not as good as Ward. Where Ward impressed me was with his ability to throw a potshot and then tie Kovalev up. I was surprised that he managed to pull that ish off on a boxer as good as Kovalev.

Kova has to either work on his distance control better or throw more inside.

 

Kov fights better than Ward on the outside, and Ward better than Kov on the inside. Both can neutralize each other's games using tactics like clinching, head movement, counters, feints, etc.

I see people saying that Kov looked completely lost on the inside, but don't forget that Ward looked like an idiot trying to jab with Kovalev.

I think that Kovalev going for the KO and being over-aggressive in this fight will work against him.

 

I watched the fight in slow motion, Kovalev landed more punches, got the knock down, both the first and second half of the fight, anyone who thinks SOB won is blind, or purely blind with prejudice.......................even Floyd Mayweather made it clear that Kovalev beat SOB and he hates Eastern European fighters. SOB counted on the biased judges and referee, Robert Tyrd........................
