    it's rare but i'll still up for calzaghe here to say there were politics and other factors that prevented him from fighting the best at times while ward has a brilliant promoter and the olympic pedigree to get the opportunites much sooner

    calzaghe's legacy is intact. he beat two prime champions and a top class contender, and two legendary LHW's in his last two fights.

    is there anyone else he was feasibly expected to fight? maybe toney if he'd have made the weight, maybe ottke if he wouldn't have backed out of a fight, maybe tarver and johnson if he was carryin on a couple of years longer.

    but lets face it he got floored in his last two fights, hopkins nearly broke his nose. he was losin it an bowed out at the right time.

    i still put him behind naz and lewis tho, definately ahead of hatton however.

    personally i think haye has the potential to be the best remembered english boxer of my era
