I'm no longer convinced that a 1974 George Foreman would just plow through Wilder after last night

Wilder showed that he could take a punch and deliver one when he stopped the SHW Luis Ortiz. Ortiz hit Wilder with some good clean shots and while Wilder wobbled and staggered somewhat, but he survived the onslaught. Any power hitter who comes to trade with Wilder without the requisite defense will have a war on his hands. This includes even a prime George Foreman, who'd probably taste the canvas if he fought Wilder.

Wilder has flaws, but he can hit and he can hurt anyone who just keeps walking into his power.

I hate to say it but i agree, Wilder has the speed to get the big shot in first and once landed would be a game changer. I'd love to be proved wrong because Wilder hasn't really fought any greats and likely never will but i just can't see Foreman withstanding those power shots. Of course if Foreman got there first he would hammer Wilder to the canvas but that's a big ask IMO.

Lets not go crazy here guys.

Wilder has plenty of time to get cold clocked by somebody who he has no business getting cold clocked by.

Why, because a geriatric Ortiz is basically interchangeable with a '74 Big George in your view? :dunno

He didn't by one of the biggest punchers in the division, he proved his chin is better than many thought lastnight.

    It's called levels IMO.

Never have rated Ortiz and certainly don't think he's a tenth as good as prime Foreman.

No but he was just as easy to hit if not more so, I'd like to be proven wrong but Foreman would be in unknown territory facing someone with that height, reach, speed and punching power.

    Does Orti
How does Ortiz's power compare to prime Foreman?

Who has a better chin: Prime Foreman or Wilder?

These are questions we need to ponder.

I feel like the hype is growing fast with Wilder.

Yes his chin does seem to be better than some of us might have feared, but I still think that it is a weakness that can be exploited.

Ortiz came within spitting distance of pulling it off.

So did Lyle against Foreman though, you don't think Wilder had the power to do that to George?

No, but Wilder did show that he wouldn't just drop like a rock the moment a big puncher whizzed something past his chin and he did show that he has enough punching power to hurt anyone. And I'm not saying he'd beat Foreman, but just that he could be vulnerable to Wilder's power and Wilder could be more formidable than one would think in this match up and it may not just be a one sided blow out.

Yeah, this is all I'm saying here....I'm not even saying Foreman would lose. But due to his style and not being big on defense, this would be some uncharted territory here.
