Prime calzaghe would have toyed with froch, machine gun punches pop pop pop pop pop into his face all night, easy easy win for joe. Would have been lacy-esque. Too fast, too talented, too intelligent, too slick for Carl froch. Would've been a 120-108 shutout.

 

He beat Grooves no big accomplishment there.

Now beating Ward would be a big deal but Froch knows he is a level below Ward which is why he doesn't want a rematch against Ward.

The funny thing is Froch's win over Magee would probably be in Calzaghe's top 5 wins.

 

You guys are all missing a trick. You're forgetting the fact that the vast majority of fighters will have great fear and respect of their opponent prior to stepping into the ring. You **** up in a boxing match and it's potentially your life on the line! Callaghan was written off against the destroyer Lacy, didn't want the fight and yet stepped in and completely schooled and exposed him! Same with Froch and Bute. Again Froch was written off and was an underdog in his own back yard! The testicular fortitude you must need to overcome your own fears prior to putting your whole career, legacy and health on the line can not be overstated. Both their, careers have great merit. As for who's the best out of Froch and calzaghe? I believe that depends on who they're matched against. Calzaghe would likely out box Froch but I believe that Froch deserves as much merit as he has over achieved given his camparatively limited technique and speed.

 

People often forget that Froch's 'warrior' persona (if it exists) is built around the Super6 - the fact of the matter is that Joe was never afforded the opportunity to enter into a tournament of that nature. These hard fights Froch has been in have largely been on the back of the Super6 tournament - Dirrell / Ward / Abrahams / Kessler; failing that, who would he have been fighting? The promotional side of boxing has clearly been more favourable to Froch in that respect.

As a caveat to that as well, I have to say, it seems that some of these guys in the grand scheme of things have been built purely around hype to the benefit of Froch - Dirrell for example - great boxer, but who has he beaten of note?

 

Joe fought his two biggest threats at home whereas Froch went into the backyard of his two biggest threats.

 

And lost...

 

Why can't this forum just appreciate great boxers , rather than Froch is better than Joe, Joe is better than Froch . At the end of the day they have both had great careers and I personally loved watching both and was a fan of both too. They did not fight each other as one was world champion and the other was up and coming at the time . If Froch or Joe were that bad you guys wouldn't slag them off at every opportunity. Big respect to both fighters but sadly they were never going to fight each other due to one coming to the end of his career and one building his career.

 

Accomplishments? Simply untrue. Joe was number 1 SMW, unified the division, moved up to LHW and became ring champion.

There's simply no comparison in resepct to 'accomplishments' - what you mean, I think, is that Froch has seemingly been far more productive with his career fighting champion after champion. I'm not sure I 100% buy that, but it's reasonable nonetheless.

he was number 1 for bare minutes after fighting Kessler - afterwards he relinquished titles meaning the number 1 was disputed.

he only partially unified, and very briefly, dumping titles immediately save an IBF defence.

he di, but its hardly a big claim. ring champion isn't even a proper belt, never mind champion.

 

You think Calzaghe would've entered Super 6? Obviously you weren't around when he was fighting. ****** would never have allowed him to fight away from home like that, defending his belt fighting Kessler in Denmark, Abraham in Finland or Johnson in USA.

Dirrell wasn't a great win for Froch, but Dirrell does have a win over Abraham, current 2-time WBO super middleweight champion. If he ever makes a comeback he could do a bit more too.
