I'm not convinced that AJ easily beats Louis or Liston anymore

Louis was pretty pitiful against Marciano he only had his jab to work with. Not Rocky's fault ,imagine the furore if he had declined the fight?

What I would say in Povetkin's defence is that it's such a tense, difficult situation to try and get inside the reach of a powerful, sharp punching giant like AJ. You can't switch off even slightly for one second.

If AJ was fighting Opponents who were a 38 years old 192lbs Walcott and a 38/40 years old 188lbs Moore they would have said AJ would not have needed to be quite so big to get the same weight advantage he had over 39 year old Povetkin. Rocky did it without the weight advantage.

Joe Louis was a cruiserweight at best and would sadly be demolished by Joshua.

I never said Povetkin wasn't small compared to AJ.Povetkin gave him trouble because of his speed, he is still a top fighter, past his best, but not many would have been favourite to beat him prior to the AJ fight.Parker was a similar size and young too ,so was Breazeale actually he is bigger ,and Whyte is hardly outsized by AJ at 6'4" and he was 2lbs heavier at 247.I think you are drawing a premature conclusion here,it was the speed that bothered Joshua.

I think you're misremembering again. The notion was that feinting had somehow become a lost art because today’s boxer’s don’t do the huge wind-up, full body feints that their predecessors once used. The rest of us explained that modern boxers feint all the time, but that the feints are usually a lot more subtle now (which is a good thing).

Now if Joshua got his nose bust in the first round and his bell rung by 185-lb, 8-loss Henry Cooper, I think we’d all agree that he’s never be able to beat Sonny Liston...

WK was shot beyond shot............no timing , cannot pull the trigger, no gas tank..........a freaking prime version was almost walked down by zero skilled club fighter Peter.............decent win for AJ but can you imagine prime/young Foreman/Tyson/Bowe/Lewis getting off the deck fighting 41 year olds? No way no how.

Povetkin is a hyped up Red Army fighter with almost zero credentials on the top level....lunging in with hooks and not setting anything up with the jab aint getting you far on the top level......in his home country he showed his level by getting rag dolled by glass chinned WK.......decent win for AJ but Povetkin was is and always will be never be more than a protected B level fighter if you are generous..............the above mentioned would have blitzed Povetkin without even breaking a sweat, 39 or 29 years old.

AJ does not fight tall, moves back in straight lines and has zero head movement, his jab is more of a range finder not a punishing ram rod like Liston, Foreman or Lewis.............he is wide open for straight right hands and always will be, that cannot be corrected at this stage of his career.

If Wilder would be a left hooker that fight would have been made a long time ago..........Wilder has a endless gas tank and probably has one of the best lights out right hands in current all boxing weight classes......Wilder will land and IMO AJ cannot take it.

I agree. Louis would be punching AJ so hard that his knuckles would be totally demolished by AJ's jaw.

Joshua was using very pronounced, hard full body feints.
Feinting has definitely not become a lost art for many.
I'd argue against that, as I would that feinting has taken on a new art.

We all know wlad was much closer to his best than Louis was. Wlad had the body of a 25 year old at his peak and not just because he trained so hard.

40 in 2018 is more like 32 in 1950 just in terms of physical aging.
Louis had also taken more punishment, morempunches than wlad had in his career.

Louis had also been inactive from 1948-1950 and earlier from 1944 to1946.

Can you say 'was immortal'? Once you're in the past tense, sounds to me like mortality's been calling.

We all know why Wlad was so perfectly preserved. He was a juiced up mother.
