Those were the words spoken by one Glen Johnson after his KO of Roy Jones and yet still to this day the man does not get credit even after his fights with Tarver & Woods and the fact that true to his word he will fight anybody. Now I've long admired this man, he's always polite, always a good sportsman and as I said always willing to bring to the table yet I can't understand how many people are so easily discounting his chances this saturday against Dawson even though he has gone the distance, won, lost & drew - very closely! - with Tarver twice and Woods 3 times not to mention other names on his resume like Hall, Griffin & serial token winner Sven Ottke who he lost to but I doubt was solidly beaten by - can anyone confirm? Hopkins too, although a loss via TKO in 111 but the point is he truly is a warrior and in my eyes is vastly underated and needs recognition in a climate of heavy ducking and bull**** wordplay we see everyday in this sport. Bottom line is don't write this guy off for Dawson; I'm not. And we could also use him as a basis for Tarver vs Woods too after all if within his 5 fights with them the fights were that closely fought it could go either way. I'm going for Glen to beat Dawson and Woods to beat Tarver but I say that only because of my patriotism, you could probably flip a coin for that fight in my honest opinion.
Glen is total class... I remember his words, not too many humble enough to say something like that... It's petty bad he didn't get the decision in the 3rd Woods fight but here's the chance for another title. It's a pretty easy fight to predict but there are two possible (almost 50-50) scenarios: if Dawson can keep up with the workrate and keep Johnson on the outside, he can win by TKO if the ref steps is. He will land a lot very speedy and accurate punches and I don't know if Glen can take them for 12 rounds. But if he can force a fight, get on the inside, apply pressure, pressure, pressure, Dawson's two weaknesses can be a HUGE factor: his chin and his stamina. If Johnson is still in the fight in the 8th, Chad will have some hard rounds to survive, because Glen will be on the hunt. So it's either a one-sided Dawson fight or Glen hangs on until his physical and conditional advantage will be a factor and then the fight is wide open. Mr. Johnson is one of the good guys, I'll probably root for him. And don't forget, it's the year of the oldboys!
I like the Road Warrior a lot. Dosent mouth off or act flashy, just gets the job done. I had him beating Clinton Woods by one round in their last fight, but the decision wasnt shocking. I'm looking forward to this weekend, its a good card.
i like johnson a lot inside and outside the ring. those who called him a bum should just stfu. But tomorrow i seriously doubt it he'll win against dawson
great thread. had the same thoughts for a while. i am choosing the same predictions as you myself.:good
