If Troy Waters was able to KD Norris, Vasquez puts him through the canvas. This was the same fighter who wore down Winky Wright and KD'd him 5 times. ANd don't give me that crap that Wright was green. He was 23 and had been on people's radar for a long time.

Vasquez was certainly better than Troy Waters, but I don't know that he hits any harder. It's not like he's Julian Jackson or anything. Vazquez was strong, and wore people down with accumulation. Norris went the distance with Castro, and Castro was strong at 154.

I dont think Norris would fight Vasquez the same he did Watters. Norris was pretty dam quick at his best, and usually handled one dimensional guys pretty good regardless of how much power they had. I think Wright improved himself substantially since the Vasquez fight as well. That being said if Vasquez connected he could hurt Norris easy.

If Henry Cooper was able to KD Ali, Liston puts him through the canvas.

See what I did there? :tong

Well I have to disagree with some things you said such as Tito was "ready to go" against Vargas. Tito got knocked down but was'nt seriously hurt and Tito did prove himself to be a legit power puncher at 154 with only 3 fights there. But yes I agree that if Tito does'nt knock out Norris then Tito would lose a decision to the Norris who put on a masterpiece in the Simon Brown rematch.

That was actually an overheard quote from a promoter some here might have known in the 90's in reference to why Norris refused to fight JCV. You people are vastly under-rating JCV and over-inflating Norris. Norris pursued way too hard for his brittle whiskers and did not have great defense.

We're not underrating Vasquez at all. I know very well that JCV was really undefeated when he faced Whitaker, as he was winning the Verno Phillips fight when he was disqualified for some bogus reason.

Still, it seems to me that if there's one person who's underrating anybody, it's you. If Norris had such brittle whiskers, then why did he manage to beat Mugabi, Leonard, Curry, Castro, Taylor, Brown, Pettway, etc.? Forget where they were in their careers, all they would have to do is catch him and he's gone right?

He got knocked out by the pound for pound hardest puncher of all time. I think we can give him a pass for that. He was winning the fight before he was knocked out too. Brown was an extremely hard hitting welterweight, who had numerous weight problems at 147, so he's by no means a small light middle. He fought the wrong fight that night, the rematch straightens things out.

I discount the Mullings and Boudouani fights, he was clearly past it by then. It's like Morales when he lost his last four fights, burned out by a young age.

Trinidad almost got knocked out by Campas, he got up and won the fight by knockout. Same with the Vargas fight. Just because someone has a shaky chin doesn't mean they can't get around it somehow. Norris, when his head was straight, was as good a fighter as one could get. Just look at the rematch with Simon Brown, a completely different fighter than in the first fight.

All i'm saying is, the Vasquez-Norris fight could go either way. I give the slight edge to Norris, but that's just me. I also say that it's Norris who's underrated here.

Vasquez would have been too much for Norris.Norris was good but had a paper chin.

Pretty much what I think except I go the way of Vasquez.

As I was single and well to do at the time, I saw a lot of both fighters live. I really liked them both. I think JCV got the typical "he ain't American so he ain't ****" treatment and then his prime passed and he kept on fighting. He really was a handful for any junior middle ever. Norris was flashier and intimidating, and almost always brought the excitement. He was "easier" for the uninitiated to get but also had some vulnerabilities and flaws. Great fighter, none the less.
