It's more meaningful than Calzaghe-Jones right now, sadly enough and I don't think we'll see Calzaghe-Dawson this year, that's the one I really want and we definitley wont see Pavlik/Calzaghe this year.

So, since he was going to fight Woods barring a Woods defeat, a fight against Tarver wouldn't be so bad as follow up after this fight because it'd likely be an impressive victory for Joe, an entertaining fight and would be picking up one of the LHW belts in the process.

Tarver claims he wants it. Anybody got any issue's with this fight?

No, it's a good fight. Aside from a Dawson one, it's probably the best out there in the light heavyweight division.

Tarver looked decent in winning the IBF title off of Clinton Woods and he's obviously performing at a higher level than Jones at the moment.

I say make the fight happen (with Tarver going to the UK since he's not a big draw here).

Talk on the street is that Dawson is dropping the belt to fight Tarver. If Tarver beats Dawson, sure...let's have Calzaghe v. Tarver. If not...RJJ will be a nice send off fight for the fans in Cardiff.

hell no, Tarver wait your turn. If Calzaghe wants to retire I dont want to see his alst fight against tarver. Him against RJ will b exciting and electric. I say
Calzaghe vs Jones winner against Dawson vs Tarver winner

I met Al Haymon over the weekend and his said he doesn't want Tarver to lose to Dawson, so he will make a calzaghe fight with Tarver. But I rather see him a Jones instead

Neither Tarver nor Dawson is ready for a Calzaghe fight in terms of marketing. The Hopkins defeat is too recent in Antonio's case, and Dawson just isn't a name.

I'd like to see Tarver vs. Dawson as a co-feature to Calzaghe/???, with the winners to meet in the spring of 2009.

At this point, I think Dawson probably ought to drop the WBC belt if he can get Tarver. Things have to move quickly for him in this division if he wants to cash in.

I'd rather see Calzaghe vs Dawson, but it'll never happen considering Calzaghe's next fight will be his last.

If he signs to fight RJJ then it will surely be his last. How can you get bigger than that?

If he signs to fight a Dawson or Tarver then there'll be one more after that I think. It all depends what Joe wants to do.

Calzaghe seems satisfied legacy wise...he wants big fights for big money.

Tarver really doesn't cover either category (big fight or big money) where as Jones is a spectacle all in his own and will bring bigger money and bigger exposure into the fight. Jones has a small chance of beating Calzaghe and while Tarver's chance isn't much better...I think there's nothing outstanding to make a fight with Tarver a must watch event.

I don't think neither fight would be very competitive but for Calzaghe....RJJ is the safer and smarter choice. But that's just one dudes opinion.
