In the midst of ODLH's Retirement everyone has been in a rush to just "replace" oscar de la hoya & try to anoint someone the next "golden boy". Lemme tell you something... in my opinion you can just ****ing be anointed the next thing in boxing... you have to earn that right by facing elite compeition and putting on great performances (knocking guys out, blowing guys out, being technically better than guys)..... you cant just sit there and fight burgers and muther****ers tell you "this guy is next up as boxings big star... **** THAT! we as the fans will decide that... as the fighter just set the big fights up and let the results occur with out trying to force feed us.... I hope he can come back from this loss.... but thats what these idiots get for trying to force it.
yeah except paul actually tries to fight big time guys .... not his fault he cant get matchedup... he is less a product of media then most of these guys... **** half the media thinks hes a fluke anyways
I gotta question ortiz heart. It just look like he didn't want to continue fighting after maidana started to land all his power shots. Ortiz had maidana down 3 times and he was ahead on the scorecard. He didn't even protest after the doctor waived off the fight.
if you heard his post fight interview he mentioned he didnt want to take damage for no reason and end up with physical damage he didnt need.... I guess he likes to fighter but doesnt have that true fighters mentality... well not true fighters mentality but actually cares about his health
If he is so concerned with his health, he should find another profession. It was a joke of a cop out. Ortiz lacks heart, and I don't want to see him fight again.
I agree with your statement, and I don't think there will ever be another Golden Boy, DLH is one of a kind he transcended the sport into new height's and say what you will about his boxing career but the guy did a lot for boxing as a whole i just do not see anyone filling his shoes.
exactly, although i do understand why he wouldn't want to continue if he knew he was going to get knockout. but i still gotta question his heart cuz he didn't look like he was that hurt after the knockdown in round 6.
You're right, but it is not Ortiz who created all this hype, it's DLH and Golden Boy. I'm more happy that Golden Boy loses than him, he seems like a good kid. And the haters, you probably never went in a ring and took a blow, as soon as a fighter doesn't want to fight because he's hurt and preocuppated by his safety you call him a quitter. Boxing is hard and dangerous and it it not a good way of living. All you keyboard warriors calling everyone quitter or saying they lack heart would ****ing **** your pants in a ring. It's easy to talk when you're not the one taking the blows, gang of society brainwashed cowards.
The only reason I'm glad Ortiz lost is because it all blew up in DLH's face. Doesn't get any better than that.
Anyone who says that Paul Williams is the next Tommy ****in Hearns needs to be taken out, Kim Jong Il style. He's more like a refined version of Kingsley Ikeke. He's not all that. Gamboa, Bute, and all those cuban prospects are going to be exposed too. They aint nothing. LAra is promising though.
While they're certainly no boxing experts, I found it funny that ESPN put a picture of Ortiz last week calling him THE next superstar in boxing. Then, less than 48 hours later, they had a picture of Juan Manuel Lopez with the exact same statement. Saying it's so doesn't make it so until it actually happens.
all fighters who are good get media.. on a boxing forum only a select few get good media.. on espn & espn.com we will obviously hear the hype of every and all fighters... we frequent boxing forums regularly.... but when you got odlh up there saying your the next big thing on espn... thats different...
You have probably go the best avatar I've seen on here. :good As for Ortiz- the bloke had a reality check last night, IMO. He can dish it out but when it came to him finally getting some back at the elite level.... well, you saw what happened.
