i'm favouring hatton, but i think your right, we should have a very good idea how the fights going to go after a round or too i.e. how pac handles strength and power and how hatton handles pacs speed and how much pop pac has at 140.
Very compelling argument for Hatton. Nicely done. I still side with Pacquiao's accuracy as Hatton comes in, however.
Pac is all wrong for Hatton. Hatton is not a smart fighter. He is quick, and he has a good left hook which are the punches that can hurt PAc, but he just doesn't fight smart. Hatton's only chance imo is to use his feints, and time Pac coming in. Pac loves a good brawl every now and then, and he can brawl. Pac is just too tough for Hatton. Pac's body punching could be big in this fight, and should set the tone right up until he stops Hatton. Froch could easily lose to Taylor as he has no boxing skills, but J.T is not an inside fighter. J.T does seem to have slowed down style wise which is good for him. I did not see Pascal-Taylor to see if Froch got better, so I can only go on what I've seen of Froch in the past. While I think Froch is overrated, he can punch a bit. This is a winnable fight for Froch, but I got J.T in this one only because he has the better jab. Froch, if he has gotten busier, he can do well for himself, but I think J.T establishes the jab, he can land an occassional big right, and control the fight. This could be a very good fight though.
You were pretty accurate on the Froch fight. Bad start for Froch, picks it up late in the fight and scores a devastating late T/KO. Good stuff. Let's hope you're right about Hatton. I see a 8-10 round KO for Hatton after a close first 6.
I agree. Tab sportsbet has Ricky Hatton as a 3 dollar underdog, it's friggin ridiculous... Hatton is a natural force at light-welter, and Manny hasn't fought there... I also think we're giving him too much credit for bashing up the version of DeLaHoya that he did. DeLaHoya's long, slender frame had previously shown susceptibility to small, faster guys with a lower centre of gravity. Manny was able to dart in, out, under and around Oscars defenses with his speed and snappy punches, as Mosely was all those years ago. So not only was he suited to this fight stylistically, but Oscar was a drained, old and dehydrated version of his former self... Ricky Hatton on the other hand is at the peak of his powers. He's a tank, and will take this fight into the trenches... I see him holding Manny's head down and belting him in the ribs, driving him into the ropes and generally wearing his smaller body down. He's a murderous puncher who can wear a shot, and he's never really looked vulnerable at 140... Hatton is the value in my 5 leg multi.
I like Hatton but feel that Paq will bust him up and stop him in about six rounds ... Paq is too fast, better defensively and has the better beard ... He will chop Hatton up and hurt him ..
Great post. Froch-Taylor analysis was spot on. Also think your pretty close on Hatton-pac. Hattons speed of footwork will be the key.
this is nice prediction. hope for threads like this so that hatton's odds rises. he is the naturally bigger and stronger guy and is fighting at a weight he is comfortable, tested and undefeated. he must be the real favorite and not pac.
