There is nothing wrong with the super 6 format. These fights would never happen in a million years as individual bouts. That's why its good.

    I disagree...

Froch fought Taylor outside of the tournement and none of the fights, so far, were inconcievable...

You're living in a fantasy land if you believe that. Taylor/Froch was just one fight, Dirrell and Ward had never fought anybody despite their talent, Kessler had fought a few bums in the last couple of years, Abraham was camping out in Germany. These fights would never happen like this consectutively. There would be all kinds of ducking, tedious negotiations, gay mandatories. Just like in every other division in modern boxing.

The reason its good is because all the fighters realize they're getting a fair crack, and a fair sum of money. That's why they bought into it as a concept.

I admit that that is the one great thing about the concept that can not be disputed.

I still say that fights like Froch vs Dirrell and Ward vs Kessler were obvious fights to make. Even Kessler vs Froch would have happend if both had retained their belts, just like Calzaghe vs Kessler.

The obvious fights don't always get made in boxing, thats the problem. Mayweather/Pacquiao has to be the most obvious fight in the last 5-10 years financially and on a sporting level yet its no certainty because of the myriad of factors pre-fight.

As long as the ABC's are onboard with a tournament like this its brilliant because it gets all the negotiations nailed down to a fair contract where everybody gets the same for the same work and everybody has to fight good competition. There are some factors that need working out like why some get to fight at home twice and some don't, and maybe including shopworn fighters like Taylor isn't the best idea in future, there has to be an idea that a fighter is fresh enough to get through every fight if neccessary.

I'll take those problems and the guarantee of good fights any day rather relying on promoters to put together individual bouts because the current state of boxing and infact the history of these individual fighters suggests not too much faith should be put in that.

Gamboa and Lopez are obviously being guided towards a featherweight 'superfight' by Top Rank...and I think thats a good move and a fight I would love to see.

That leaves Rafa, Caballero and Chris John.

I would personally love to see Rafa-John, really interesting mesh of styles and a fight Rafa can win at this advanced stage of his career.

Deep division though, any combination of fights would be great.

Amen I agree. Featherweight right now has the most strength in depth of any division and the right fights aren't being made :fire

Gamboa should be taking on either Cabalero or John next it's time he proved himself to be an elite fighter he has had a good induction and proven himself above the contender level. Rojas and Salido need to be active to be relevant and should face the best contenders to prove they deserve a piece of the picture.
Also Daniel Ponce de Leon-Jhonny Gonzalez fell to pieces and so did Daniel Ponce de Leon-Antonio Escalante. Would be nice to see the right people facing the right opponents rather than being inactive and then taking on someone that doesn't add anything to what you have already achieved.
