Howard Foster hasn't just made one mistake. He has a track record of making bad decisions. The only reason he still has a job is because BBBofC is run like an exclusive old boys club and no one ever gets held to account for incompetence.

 

Really? I can think of many other refs who've made more mistakes. I always think of Foster as a decent ref, if you would like to give some examples then that opinion may well be changed?

I do agree re the board being run like an old boys club.

 

Is there a way of finding a list of which fights Foster has reffed in the past year or 2? I'd gladly go down it and reel off which results were early stoppages.

But just off the top of my head, Howard reffed the 1st Mckenizie vs Maccarinelli fight.

And just as a side note, when Howard was announced as a ref I said to my mates/cousins in the room, 'let's hope Howard doesn't fcuk it up' and lo and behold... That worry didn't come out of nowhere, he's not the worst Brit ref, but when it comes to early stoppages, he is a major culprit.

Our "top refs" just aren't very good. The problem with early stoppages in the UK is so bad that the BBBofC needs to take responsibility and admit there is a problem (for a start) and actually do something about it. I would far rather we used American refs for major fights at this stage. Our own are just too incompetent to be trusted.

One of the worst stoppages I have seen was Thaxton vs Murray done by Howard John Foster.

 

I've been locked out of boxrec for the time being, but there are 2 examples and there are many more. Also I can only judge on the fights I have seen so I am sure there are many more bad decisions in small hall shows etc that slip under the radar. I've been to a couple of boxing shows and precisely this has happen with HF reffing.

 

Leave it out Billy. We have some of the worst officiating in the world over here in the UK.

From the ABA's all the way up to world title fights I'm frequently ashamed of the performances of some of our refs.

 

Just looked. He was referee for the Bradley Skeete fight a week after his mistake. Where is the punishment? The BBBofC are a joke. Also just looked how is that fair. For Jamie McDonnells World title fight. Howard Foster of Doncaster was referee for McDonnell when he also comes from Doncaster.
