I'm happy to see the fans showing up (mainly the mexican ones) to both the big fights this weekened. The MGM Grand and the Thomas and Mack center are sold out. To just sell out one of those arenas is impressive, but to have both of them sold out on a weekend that Pacweather isn't fighting is great news for the sport. I like Canelo (wouldn't call myself a fan though) and I don't like Julio, but I'm happy to see they can bring the fans out and fell good about the sport's future :happy The future is here This content is protected This content is protected
Chavez vs Martinez is a fight that goes beyond the hardcore boxing fan. With the Mexican community it's due to Chavez, but Martinez has beaten Pavlik and Williams and that gave him a lot of name recognition. I have a group of friends of about a dozen that we all get together when there is a big fight. Maywehater/Pacquiao/Cotto and the Canadian guys like Bute and Pascal. Sometimes Hopkins (like when he fought Taylor, Pavlik, Calzaghe) Yesterday one of those guys created an event on facebook and invited everyone to get together to watch the fight at a sports bar. I was surprised as ****. Very cool for the sport. None of these guys are as into boxing as I am.
Canelo is everyting what is WRONG in boxing. TS being what he is(dumb fuk mayweather slick&black ***) should know this.
Gonna be an amazing night for boxing. Looking forward to both main event fights as well as several undercard fights.
The Canelo-Lopez card isn't sold out. Tickets were still available on Ticketmaster yesterday. Kevin Iole and Fat Dan both called Golden Boy out on it, which resulted in Oscar blocking them on Twitter. Still obviously a **** lot of fans in Vegas this weekend, which shows there's more to boxing than just Mayweather and Pacquiao.
