For the same reason he didn't fight Margarito/Cotto/Williams, anyone who looked remotely dangerous.

He's actually got a pretty average resume for someone of his ability. When you compare it to the guys Mosley and De La Hoya fought, it really doesn't look impressive at all.

if Mosley was in Mayweather's showes he WOULD 100 percent NOT fight Mayweather when he's got bigger fish to fry in the winner of Cotto vs Pac. Mosley already proved in the past that he would duck a high risk fighter in order to get a payday against a potentially easier and more marketable fighter but now the guy is desperate. Any fighter in their right mind would rather take bigger money and the bigger PPV Event over the winner of Pac vs Cotto. Mosley's just getting a bitter taste of his own medicine

To be honest, I smell a retirement coming up. The only big fights out there are the ones Mayweather isn't going to take.

skillwise nobody will match floyd, which is why i would rather have him in there with somebody bigger than him to see how he deals with the strenght and power of a man who will trouble him...not only that, but mosley has an iron chin and it's about that time again that we see floyd in there with a fighter like that.....

Mayweather wanted to fight a prime Mosley but Mosley instead went up to ww to fight a last prime De la hoya.

Mosley has not fought in almost a year partly because he did not want to risk a big payday. He specifically said before that he wasn't interested in Berto or Williams and was going to sit on the sidelines and wait for a big money fight. He's only fighting Berto now because he has no other options. Not only that, but most people here believe that Berto is completely overrated and has no shot against Mosley.

Don't you think Thats what Mayweather is doing by not taking a dangerous risk while waiting for the Pacquiao vs Cotto winner? Hey Mosley did that so why can't Mayweather?

^^^Exactly. Thats why Mosley fought Forrest and Wright in which Mosley didn't have other options.

mosley did it once against a fighter bigger than him....may has been doing it for years against smaller men, or passed their prime men.....or "no chance in hell at all" men

those of you saying mosley only fought dangerous fights because he had no choice are full of ****.....and even if he did, atleast that's better than retiring 3 times in order or avoid them, right ?????

Regardless of why he fought Wright and Forrest, I give him props for taking on those guys. However, I can't give him much props for allegedly risking a payday by fighting Berto. He's not risking a payday because there are no paydays out there for him. It's clear he's taking this fight out of necessity.
