I'm saying it now, Wilder is the hardest hitting HW of all time.

You DO realize chuvalo, tough as he was, got brutally stopped by 205 pound cruiserweight sized frazier who was maybe a 7 out of 10 power puncher at best?

The fact you think chuvalo would "walk through wilders punches like they were nothing" indicates you are either

    A) a troll
    B) stupid
    C) ignorant
    D) all of the above

Im gonna go with D, and either way, its not even worth going back and forth explaining to you why this is the stupidest claim ive seen in a boxing forum.

Yes, and he did it with ONE ARM. He threw a bulky (possibly juiced) man 30 lbs heavier to the ground casually with one arm. Thats ridiculous.

He also shoved ortiz back several feet like foreman used to do in a separate incident.

He may be lanky, but apparently the idea that hes this weak string bean and would be mauled and bullied by parker, povetkin, joshua, etc is incredibly innacurate.

Calling Ortiz a bum just makes you look silly. Ortiz is a horrible style matchup for mid-70s Frazier imo, and you obviously don't have to be an ATG to beat any of the other guys you listed. Sorry, I don't put the 70s era heavyweights on as high of a pedestal as most people around here...It is what it is.

The fact of the matter is guys like Foreman, Tyson, Shavers all proved their punch power by stopping top 10 HW's in their prime early, Wilder has yet to do that.

What top 10 HW's in their prime did Shavers actually stop?

    Hi guys , my view.

Wilder is a youngish, peak-prime fighter who is very athletic and unorthodox . Wilder has very fast hands and excellent punching power. He also has some old school endurance compared to most of these overweight, over muscled so called " modern " heavyweights. The cons are Deontay has extremely bad balance and some of the worst technique seen in any gym let alone at the so called highest level. You can tell Wilder started late in boxing and didnt have much amateur grounding despite being an Olympian. He is a bit like young Foreman in that regard.

At times Wilder comes in face first with his chin in the air which is a VERY bad habit to have. When he raced in face first after hurting Ortiz for the first time he nearly walked - ran straight into a knock out drop type left hand.

I have never seen Wilder throw what I would consider to be a proper 3-4 punch combination either. His jab is still a mystery to me, as he was facing a southpaw in Ortiz I won't attack Wilder for his lack of the jab in the fight.

Wilder is also a guy who REALLY wants to win which is an underrated trait in my opinion. You can see how desperate he is and how much he wants it. I still think he is pretty vulnerable due to his defensive deficiencies and his less than granite chin but he has plenty of guts n fortitude.

His opponent " King Kong " Ortiz was his polar opposite. A skilled veteran southpaw with excellent footwork and combination punching but a guy who looked old and who seemingly shot his entire bolt after trying to put Wilder away in the seventh round. Ortiz lacked the cardio to take advantage of Wilder's shaky state in the eighth round and that was pretty much all she wrote. All in all it was a pretty gutsy effort by the older fighter but his age and lack of really high end conditioning hurt him in the end.

Funnily enough for a guy who is near 40 I will say that Ortiz' record isn't exactly full of threats and dangerous opposition. I reckon he was a bit shocked with Wilder's power and I also believe he thought Wilder was a bit " loco ". I swear Ortiz cringed like he thought Wilder was going to attack him when Wilder first came over to congratulate Ortiz on the fight post the stoppage.

I do know one thing, this fight showed that a 210 - 215 pound guy like Wilder can certainly punch hard enough to hurt a so called 240 pounds plus " modern heavyweight ".

As a last comment despite the early action being pretty dull I really enjoyed the fight, there is something about the big fellas and their ability to end a fight with one big punch at any stage.

    Cheers All.

Hey Kev with Ortiz' lack of cardio he better finish Frazier within 3-4 rounds or he ( Ortiz ) is cactus in my opinion.

Ortiz was completely exhausted after 7 rounds of boxing yesterday. When you consider the fact that the first four rounds were what us old timers call " feeling out " rounds then the ex Cuban's lack of endurance was pretty disappointing for a so called world championship level boxer.

    Cheers Mate.

I agree with much of this, though I think that Wilder has much better balance and technique than you give him credit for. His problem seems to me to be that he gets too excited and throws it all out the window whenever he thinks he has an opponent in trouble. He almost always gets away with it, but it is certainly a flaw that can be exploited by the right opponent.

Have people really questioned whether rock solid 215lb* fighters known for their extraordinary power can hurt 240-lb opponents? Where?

*Who knows what Wilder actually weighed in the ring--seems like he probably would have put on weight within the 24 hour period after the weigh in, if the story about him having stomach problems is true...

I can't decide if your dad is a frog or a pig
But the problem is that both species have a bigger brain than you. Probably a mon key with mental disability violated your mother and the poor woman could not abort at the time.

Hi again mate, I have had a few posters comment to me how these new, " modern 230 plus pounds " type fighters are too big for old champions like Holmes and Ali or even the young Foreman. It is quite a recurring theme with certain posters.

Oh ok. That seems like a different issue though, given that neither of them were big punchers. I hadn't really followed those debates but my impression was that the main question was whether Ali and Holmes could use their footwork and hand-speed to win from distance and overcome the substantial height, reach, and power disadvantages they would face against the best super heavies.
