Does this fight get rescheduled now or is Ward Vs. Pascal a possibility?

 

Rescheduled for later in the year. Pascal wanted an interim fight but due to contractual problems with his promoter, this didn't happen.

 

The subtext of all the reports in the Canadian media. Pascal is tied in to a contract that means he has one fight left with GYM. GYM won't give him any other fight except for Bute because they're desperate to cash out on this one fight. So, Pascal cannot fight anyone else without GYM's approval. GYM don't want him to fight anyone else because they'd lose money by comparison. Bute doesn't want to fight anyone else because he's agreed to this fight, because it's historic and because it's a career high pay-day. Pascal would ideally fight an interim fight to keep active but he definitely wants to fight Bute next in his next big fight for the same reasons as Bute.

Notice how Pascal did not blame Bute for pulling out. He didn't ***** about it at all - he was very understanding and compassionate. His only beef is with GYM because they won't let him fight a tune-up fight which would help him get rid of ring-rust in the meantime.

No I think Lucian is genuinely injured. If he or his team didn't wanted this fight, they wouldn't have started the negotiations to beggin with ... it doesn't make sense. It's not like it was a mandatory or anything.

The problem is, it's been clear for about 1 year now that Pascal wants to leave Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM, his promotional company) to sing with 50¢, and with what Decebal explained about "the last fight of the contract", GYM want to add 1 fight to the contract to make sure that a Pascal-Bute fight is promoted by GYM/Interbox only. Besides, GYM can't give a tune up because of what Pascal costs when he fights (Jean wouldn't accept to fight in a tune-up for 100k + adding one fight to his contract with GYM).

 

Its about time you Bute fans start asking questions.

 

What questions?

There are some Romanians who like to be very cynical and to see conspiracy theories everywhere, but in this case, it simply doesn't make sense. I don't think there is one Bute fan who doubts that Bute's injury was legit or that he could have continued training/fighting on the 25th. Pascal/GYM certainly don't doubt it was a legit injury and they don't think Bute should have fought on the 25th.

 

I think he should have fought anyway to be honest.

It was a bull**** pull out with only 2 weeks left before the fight.

Suck it up, fight and then get the surgery.

Suck up, what, precisely, Maxime? If you can't use one hand with three weeks to go before the fight, is that good preparation? Is that good sparring? is that good pad and bag work?

If you cannot use a hand during the fight, can you compete?

So you want fans to pay hundreds of dollars to watch a one-handed fighter pretend he's competitive, when he knows he doesn't even have a chance?

I don't know what to say, really. You've followed boxing for so long... you were one of the first, with sean, who introduced me to Bute... and now you want him to cheat the fans? Why? For the life of me, I cannot understand it. To me, that's like taking a dive, because that's what he's effectively preparing for, if he doesn't pull out.

Remember, this is a guy who went ahead and fought Froch abroad after having to rest completely due to a foot infection at a key moment in his preparation. Do you think he would have pulled out of the biggest fight of his career if he didn't really have to? Do you not think he would have put up with the pain and carried on, if he had been able to?

Like I said before, Pascal called him out on numerous occasions while both were **** hot commodities, its only when Pascal has a fight lined up with Dawson that they interrupt him in his preparation and sign him, and have him wait 7 more months?!?!

 

You don't think he would have sucked up the pain had he felt able to train and then to compete?

If Pascal had injured his shoulder and if he had to stop training, would you have said he should have fought with an injured shoulder, knowing he cannot use one of his arms properly? I mean, who does that? That's highly unprofessional to start off with. It's also cheating the fans. It's deceiving the sanctioning commission. It would have basically meant Bute going in pretending to compete and robbing the fans of a lot of money and making a mockery of the supposed context. For what? To cash out? A very poor performance would mean the end of Bute's career. Hardly a fitting tribute to the fans. Hardly a performance worthy of a historic fight, no?

Only someone who would want to see Bute knocked out for the sake of seeing him get knocked out would want him to go into a fight knowing he cannot use one hand.

Imagine this post-fight interview:

Rep: Lucian, glad you are able to speak with us - you were outworked and outgunned - can you tell us what happened before the stoppage - you didn't seem to throw very much. You didn't look like yourself in there.

Bute: Well, the truth is I injured my right hand...

Rep: What? In what round? Is that why you weren't throwing any jabs?

Bute: No, I injured my hand and I couldn't train properly

Rep: Just before the fight?

Bute: No, I couldn't train in the last three weeks. I had to stop sparring, I had to stop the bagwork... I could only do some very light padwork... the pain was very bad.

Rep: Yeah, but surely you started training again properly after a few days...

Bute: No. I stopped doing anything but cardio and light padwork for a week hoping the pain would stop. The doctor told me that the injury was bad and he recommended I stop entirely for an operation, but I didn't listen to him.

Rep: But after that one week off, you started sparring again and doing bagwork again, so...

Bute: No, the injury got worse. I had to stop using my right hand, so I stopped the sparring and the bagwork altogether and I only shadowboxed and did cardio.

Rep: What, you're telling us you stopped sparring, doing bagwork and padwork with three weeks left before the fight?

Bute: Yeah, I didn't want to let the fans down, so I carried on...

Rep: But when you went in the ring tonight, there was no pain, right? You felt able to compete, so you must have got injured again...

Bute: No, the pain was still there before I went in, I knew I couldn't throw any right hands, or use my jab, or throw hooks or uppercuts... but I didn't want to let my fans down... so I pretended I was fine.

Bute's right hand is useless anyway, he just puts it out there while he loads up the left uppercut, his only trick.

It's better he recovers though, we don't need any excuses from him or the Butards for getting KTFO'd again.

What's wrong here is Pascal having to wait 7 more months for the fraud to recover without having another fight in between.
