Im starting to change my mind about Fury and Haye

Im convinced Fury will win
I think hes gonna go backwards and not engage

The moment Fury starts going forward and leading he will get caught he needs to make it like the Johnson fight

 

Tyson Fury's an improving fighter, undefeated as a pro, and has ever reason to be confident and develop a winning gameplan.
Honestly, he's 6'9 with a 85" reach and he's younger than the fighters Haye's beat at heavyweight.
He has a real chance to do something here.

I say this as someone who thought Fury was UTTER CRAP when I first watched him. He's shown improvement, so who knows.
I mean, Haye's just a good fighter, not a great one.

I agree for a great deal with this.
But the fact remains that he shoudn't be undefeated if boxing was fair. (actually not a fact but a wide carried opinion)
And his weakness collides exactly with Haye's strength, wich makes it hard for me to predict anything other than a stoppage win for Haye if he doesn't screw up and uses his famous "run ***** run" routine against big fighters.

 

If he goes down he'll probably get up. Audley Harrison got up. Difference with Fury is he'll get up AND fight back. With his size advantage he has a better chance of survival if he's ring smart.

Sure, Haye's a dangerous hitter, no question. Fast, powerful, accurate. But he can be outworked and his offense has been rendered ineffective before, his workrate is often abysmal.

ALSO, probably Fury has the stuff to hurt and floor Haye too.

Fury's improving but untested. It's still a big question mark. He might turn out to be a disaster, he might turn out to be better than we've seen before.

 

Fury needs to tighten up his defence and stop leaving himself open for the big right hand, the weakness I assume you are refering to.
Thing is, if he can do that enough AND establish his own jab, Haye could well be shut out into defensive mode ('run ***** run') himself.
I've always noted that Haye doesn't seem to COMBINE his defence with his offense enough. Simplifying, he's either going backward slipping and sliding OR he's letting loose dangerous combinations but a little himself open. Haye's 'counter punching' style doesn't always get results.

We know what Haye can do. He can certainly win this, and decisively. We know that.
Tyson Fury is the 'unknown' here. I can't write off his chances at all. If I was him I'd certainly fancy my chances.

 

I see Haye winning because of his quality and experience. Fury's lack of experience against a top level opponent will stand against him.

As for what round it will end I'm guessing 5 or 6. I think Haye will respect Fury's size and will not want to get clobbered with a 19 stone of A man punch so he will be cautious. Another Valuev/ Wlad type of performance from Haye only obviously he lands on Fury.

Cautious opening three rounds followed by sporadic action and Fury being put down for the fourth and final time in the 6th.

This fight is basically dependent on whether Fury can defend, avoid and take Haye's right hand.

I for one actually think Fury has a decent beard, if he's gone down he's been got up and been fine. Each time he's gone down is because he has squared up and basically walked in and offered to be smashed straight on the chin with a right hand.

If he squares up against Haye, it won't end well for Fury. Think this is more of a footwork and technical issue he needs to sort out.

Can that be sorted over one training camp though, before the biggest fight of his career? I'm not so sure.

 

Fury is a slow, chinny heavyweight who brings nothing to the table.

Haye will demolish him.

 

i actually think Fury has faster hands than Wlad and in particular a snappier jab he also has 5 inch reach on Wlad so his jab should technically reach Haye faster.

 

I can't help but think that people WANT this to be a competitive contest rather than truly believe it will be one.

I have re-watched both of them countless times and cannot see what Fury is capable of doing that can defeat Haye.

 

Only way Fury wins is if he goes negative and jab on the backfoot!

I really can't see Fury engaging, he'll get smashed.

 

1. Maybe he can do a shitty impression of Wlad K and get a decision. Long range, jab, control distance. Lean and hold Haye on the inside when Haye gets there. It's possible, if he stays disciplined.

2. Or maybe he could just go full ****** and walk Haye down. Put the pressure on, take his lumps, gets knocked down, get up, hit Haye more than Haye hits him, and Haye will gas.
It's possible, however unlikely it sounds.

Tyson Fury is possibly nowhere near good enough to succeed with those tactics. Not now, not ever.
But it's wrong to write him off completely. We should expect to see a better version of Fury than we've seen before.

The thing people seem to ignore is that David Haye is not a great heavyweight fighter by any means. A good fighter, a good puncher, but nothing exceptional.
