Initially I was convinced that Cotto would have Manny belly up in the 7th round. However, based on what Santiago said and Cotto's frame of mind and conditioning....I am leaning towards a quicker KO for Cotto. Cotto will begin to punish Manny's body early and with lateral movement neutralize the 1-2's and 3 punch combo's...making Manny pay dearly. Cotto's jab will play a big role in throwing Manny off and possibly throwing him down. Manny will be the recipient of gratuitous right crosses. Roach is hoping for Manny's new found uppercuts to find a home, however Cotto has prepared for that arsenal as well. Bottom line to quote Santiago, " Manny will get punished like never before"
I dont see the uppercut as Manny's biggest weapon. It's that straight left that has always been huge. Cotto TKO 5-9 rd.
I dont think the straight left is the key here in this fight, Cotto knows how to get under that shot as proved in the Judah fight, I think the Key for Manny to win is his body work, if he can get off to the body as he did with DLH and Barrera he is going to have a great night, but in going to the body against a guy like Cotto that is a very dangerous place to be for Manny he risk getting cracked...
I have no idea who's gonna win this one. I can see so many different scenario's play out. Basically though I think whoever wins is gonna be a legend. If is turns into a great fight then they might both go down as legends, it could be the start of the greatest ever triology..who knows? Thats why I lurvveeee boxing
We still haven't seen how Manny can take punch from a bigger man. Oscar had nothing on his punches, and Ricky never landed anything. Hell I don't recall Oscar Diaz even landing anything. I'm pretty sure Cotto will connect with something nasty behind it. This fight should've been titled "How Cotto got his groove back."
Jab will be key in stopping Pac in his tracks when he comes in. Cotto will also have to finish up with combinations as Pac tries to get out of the way and go backwards, like JMM so many times caught Pacquiao. I believe Pacquiao will get caught many times and will be surprised with how fast and skilled Cotto is, just like all other Cotto's opponents, no one has been able to escape/nullify Cotto's offense - Clottey was the closest one and he still got knocked down by a jab!!
uppercuts would be pretty dumb of Pac to throw and i think Roach knows that. They always leave you open for a counter and against a guy who has countered Judah and Mosley i dont think would be smart to used them on. Unless obviously Cotto is gassed or tired. I can see Cotto catching Pac with a great left hook counter if Pac gets crazy with the uppercuts.
Agreed! Cotto is gonna send him back down to lightweight in a hurry. Cottos right cross is a beautiful thing. Then raise it high, real high Miguel, for all to see!!
Exactly how I feel. We might see the best Pac performance ever, but could still lose to Cotto. Would be a great to see these two warriors in a Trilogy and if so, who needs PBF?
