i think the left hook is gonna be cotto's money shot. i doubt manny will have felt that kind of power come saturday night.
They will, Margarito is much bigger and probably stronger than Manny, he dont have the same speed, probably not the same power we dont know that yet, But Margarito is a big man who comes forward and throws, regardless if you hit him or not when Margarito fights you he is in your face the entire fight.
For one thing, we don't know for a fact the gloves were loaded. And how do we know how effective those cements are if it was a fact they were there. Margarito has lost a few fights before, if they were loaded at those losses, then it could also mean the loaded gloves didn't make much of a difference after all. Try clenching your fist and feel your knuckles, they're already hard, but beyond that, they're still padded.
Ya'll are forgetting Pac has utterly destroyed legends. Cotto hasn't done anything on that level except barely squeeking out a Win over an aging Mosley. I like Cotto but he isn't on the same level and he really isn't that much bigger -- at all. Pac is an ATG, a growing legend. Cotto simply a very good fighter the the past few years -- he's not a legend and no ATG. This is another mismatch. Don't believe the hype that is trying to make this more than it is. Cotto will get hurt.
I speculate that the effect of the loaded gloves would be that you don't have to clench your fists to make it hard. This is where boxers make mistakes and injure their hands, it was probably more about protecting his fist than gaining advantage on damage, like I said, it's just a speculation, so don't burn me on that. You are also assuming that Margarito is more powerful than Pac. When was the last time you saw Margarito knockout someone with one punch? The answer is never.
Betabong,,,, Look at the wrap, does that look normal to you? look at the middle knuckle... something is fishy about that, there is a better picture of it floating around here I tried to find it but with no luck I am sure someone will post it if you ask. This content is protected
cotto likes to be the agressor in his fights. when hes on the front foot he is unbelievable boxer. however margarito was sort of weathering the storm so to speak and kept walking through the punches and put cotto on the back foot. thats where cotto doesnt know what to do is when he is on the back foot. its mainly because it was the first time in his career he was having to fight on the back foot. this is what pac will try to do, but im thinking cotto may be more prepared for this now.
I'm not questioning whether he had loaded gloves or not. I myself believe they were. My question was what effect were those loaded gloves really were meant for, is it to gain damage advantage, or is it to protect his own hands from injury. If they were loaded in the Cotto fight, chances are they were loaded all of his previous fights yet, he managed to get a few loses. So if other people managed to beat him with loaded gloves, why didn't he? So, were the loaded gloves really significant?
if you think Loaded gloves are not really significant I advise you to delete your ESB account and go watch another sport.
Against almost anyone else coming up in weight I would say that Cotto wins easily, but Manny Pacquiao is special. Very special indeed. I have no idea what will happen come fight night.
Don't get defensive and take it personal. You didn't answer my question though. Why did some manage to beat Margarito with loaded gloves and Cotto didn't? Don't get me wrong, I love Cotto, and he's one of my favorite fighters. When two great fighters fight, I don't automatically think he will win just because he is my favorite fighter. I look at what I think are facts and study as much as I can about their styles. For Cotto, I just think his style is not the right style to defeat Pacman. To beat Manny, they better be prepared with something different that will catch an unsuspecting Manny. It is possible, could have worked on it given their extended training camp. I'm only analyzing the fighters based on their previous fights. If they managed to come up with a style to beat Manny, I'd give alot of credit to Joe Santiago for devising a plan. He would be my hero.
