I'm still not overall Convinced with Kell Brook

I respect his win last night, but I wasn't up in arms about Porter being the next Mosley or whatever. Porter is the same guy from the Diaz fight in my opinion. He just happened to fight to guys who can't handle aggression.

It's not that he isn't good, it's just that I still have questions before I call him the future of the WW division

I will say people underestimated how strong Kell Brook was. I saw a lot of his old conditioning videos on YouTube and knew he would be strong.

I think Kell brook has good timing, and a good 1,2 punch combo

What I didn't see is him being able to fight on the inside. He did a lot of holding the first half of the fight. I also would like to see how fights going backwards.

Khan vs Kell Brook will tell the true story here.

By the way I just had a post telling anyone that Marquez would catch Porter coming in and counter the **** out of him, and know one could it see it just a day ago.

    He is what he is.

He's not SRL or Mayweather but he's a very good fighter who would give lots of top fighters a great fight. Past 10 years I don't see many 147 lbers walking through him.

    i got the same opinion

it was a good win and showed kell is decent (which we didn't know before considering he fought tomato cans)

but there is nothing there that makes one think he could beat mayweather or pacman.... i remember seeing that nut saj talking smack about brook and saying he only has the 1-2, funny thing is he was right.... he just has the 1-2 with the right being the main weapon... no dazzling combinations of such... inside game = clinch fest, not much to see there

a lot of people are just over excited and their dislike of khan is propelling the thought that brook is now tbe and will conquer the division since he took out porter who just charged in without any thought.

He wasn't great inside because Porter is a much stronger person. Porter probably could have been a quality kick returner in American college football. Nevertheless, it is boxing and not football and he doesn't have good boxing skills. If he had doubled up on the jab more frequently, he could have thrown off Brook's timing.

He fights pretty good in the inside but not great. So anyone with a better inside game then him he just wouldn't bother with it. In the Carson Jones fight he tried to use his feet to get away from the inside fighting but that tired him out. Evidently he's learned how to tie-up since then.

True. Although I haven't seen much in the way of him having an inside game.

Al Bernstein mentioned it last night and it rang true that if the ref had done more of the breaking them up early( a la Jack Reiss) the fight might have played out different.

It's a double edged sword though. While it could have worked against Brook, and not allowed him to smother so much of Porter's work inside, it would have essentially set up more opportunities for Brook to operate at a distance, which is what he wanted to begin with.

You wouldn't think with Kell Brooks style he came from the same gyms as, Naseem Hamed, Witter etc.

Seems to be very text book for and Ingle fighter.

Since him and Khan can't fight on the inside I expect a lot of holding, but for the fight to mostly be cat and mouse affair. It should play out a lot on outside

Hope this fight happens, should be a good fight.

Think it should be pretty clean as both won't look to get in close.

I dont even rate him above thurman, he is a strong, good basic boxer. with nice power and solid defence. but the hype porter got before means this was an awesome victory for Special K. Just puts some dribbling handicaps in there places. lol

He's a good fighter but he does nothing amazing. All that "extra gear" stuff was bollocks, he has shown all he has.

Best of luck to him though.

well I said i wasnt ready to say porter is the real deal yet yesterday and he gets beat. Porter is a good aggressive swarmer but brook beat him i give him credit but I dont know how to judge kell because porter was a questionable champion to begin with.
I feel like showtime was biased, porter did more work then they showed in replays but in round 4 i knew that kell was gonna win no complaints porter just did more work then showed
