Kell is a good fighter, and not as scrappy as we saw last night, thats down to the nature of the fight. I don't think he will ever be elite but he showed he can adapt, is mentally tough and has good stamina when he makes weight the right way.

I think he will hang around the top 10 WW list, beat some good fighters and lose to some good fighters along the way.

    Brooks best attributes:

Timing, footwork. Defense and reflexes are underrated. Porter landed practically nothing from the outside last night. Ring IQ is quite high. Very physically strong for a WW. Showed elite level stamina last night considering the type of fight it was. Mental strength - Porter had his best spell after round two, Kell was cut, under serious pressure yet kept his composure and calmness to stick to his gamelan and take control of the fight. Something Paulie and Devon couldn't manage against the Porter bum rush.

He hasn't got everything but he has a good mix of attributes to do pretty well even at a high level.

Well that's one more step towards convincing people. I think he would give pretty much anyone at 147 a decent fight.

brook is a good fighter period. porter does not have the speed, power or explosiveness of mosley. he's a fake ass bradley and i was glad to see him lose and i had brook winning the fight going in and was rooting for him. i dont like porter, never have never will. what the hell makes people think he fights like mosely ? mosley was not that bad. oh and its not a style thing that was the very best of porter and thats his style. good test to see were brook was really at and hes a top dog ww.

Porter was looking to get in maul, muscle and outwork Brook. the problem is Kell Brook is physically strong and was the bigger man in there. He put a stop to the roughhouse and his physical strength prevented Porter from mauling and being wildly effective.

Mauling tactics will work against physically weaker opponents. You wrestle them out of position and land roundhouse shots they are not expecting, but againt someone who can body up and force back and through lethal counters this wont work.

The problem I see with Brook is his workrate, he throws a jab and a straight right and a hook but one at a time. If he would pivot Jab, straight right, left hook to the liver ......three and four punch combinations he would be even better.

Brook seemed to just stand in front of Porter majority of the fight and he didn't feint often. He also would throw one shot and sometimes leave his arm out there instead of immediately taking it back to the guard. Porter capitalized on this and he's not a huge counter puncher. I think Marquez could have a good time with Brook if he continues to do that. Brook got a good win and he has room to grow and I think he is intelligent to do so. I do not think he is prime yet. When he threw that uppercut he got in 2 more punches that staggered Porter he needs to learn to utilize more combinations like that and get better timing down.
