I am basing it on the second Taylor fight. I accept I could be wrong and that it's mostly conjecture. The number of fights he fough at over 160 is irrelevant because you have to look at the level of the comp too.

Hope I'm wrong, though. I hope Pavlik has even more power as he moves up. :thumbsup

I've said many times that I was more impressed with Jermain's improvements in that 2nd fight than I was with Pavlik's overall performance. I do not think the added weight, or any loss of power had anything to do with it. It's pure conjecture on my part, but I think Pavlik slightly underestimated JT. It seemed to me like Kelly expected the same old Jermain to show up and make the same mistakes. That didn't happen, and when we add in the hand injuries, it's easy to see why it went the distance.

I'm expecting Pavlik to hand BHop his first serious ass whoopin', but the ass whoopin' won't real start until the mid rounds.

Hopkins makes Pavlik look like a novice in a stunning upset.

maybe a couple early ones....Then again Pavlik intends on really working in this fight right from the opening bell...much like the Miranda fight....if this happens Bslop won't win a round:-(

People wish this is Hopkins away from boxing and by the small door. I wonder what did he do so that people wish so much harm to the man. He fought the powers in boxing, Don, Butch Lewis, Showtime, made 20 defenses of the MW title, put it on the line against an up-coming young contender in Jermain, stepped up and fought Tarver, faced Winky and Calzaghe and... now Pavlik. I see nothing wrong, maybe people don't like the way he loves himself but then I wish you had done time in prison, lost a bro, had a late start in boxing with a debut loss and went on to unify the MW Championship. Bernard is not going down against Pavlik even if he takes a beating and that's also out of the question in my mind.

I do not think it is disrespectful to predict that Pavlik will hand hopkins his ass. It's just a case of Hopkins staying around for one to many fights aganst the wrong opponent. This is a situation where a fading legend, who is probably a shoe in for the IBHOF, is facing a young lion in his prime. It's not disrespectful. It is just the recognition of the natural evolution of the sport. The old guys get beat up and put out to pasture by the young guns all the time.

This is utter rubbish. It'll be much easier for Bernard to slip and avoid Kelly's punches than with Joe's. Kelly's punches are slower than Joe's punches/slaps and come from very conventional angles unlikes Joe's. The fact Kelly can hit hard is irrelevant because he'll have a very hard time in finding Bernards chin. Bernard is going to make this fight look so easy for the first 6-8 rounds, he'll then probably start to tire which is where pavlik will start to claw back the rounds, whether he'll have enough rounds to do that in i'm not too sure. My feeling is Hopkins will win this on a decision.
