I'm taking specific interest in the Ring's SuperFly rankings...

I would have clearly Martin Castillo, Cristian Mijares & Fernando Montiel in the top 3.
Still tho Super Flyweight is close to the strongest division in boxing.
Definitely strongest below Super Feather, & with Vic Darchinyan fightin Z Gorres in an IBF Title Eliminator, another big name moves into the Super Flyweight picture.

 

definitely...montiel is a top 20 fighter in the world IMO.

 

Cmon mate I'm not living in denial..Mijares-Donaire would be a competitive fight and in my opinion go either way but probably to Mijares...As far as the Ring rankings for 115 they are hardly credible and as you stated shamless.. So the discussion and poderance of them is nothing more than a waste of time...as the conclusion will always come down to how irrelevant they are now...not that they werent credible in the past

All in good time hopefully mate...However Donaire must be respected for wanting to clean out the division something rarely done in the lighter weights...I hope he does it and then makes believers by dominating Mijares the way he did Darchinyan and the rest of the division...Donaire is too quick and skilled to walk into Mijares jab all nite cmon mate:good

For the record, I think Mijares UD's Donaire quite easily but that still doesnt make him supernatural. Donaire is no more than a B+/A- fighter.

He beat an overrated Darchinyan which is still a great win but based on his performance afterwards, it wasnt too great.

Im not too impressed with him. His counterounching skills isnt nowhere close to the elites, his speed is good but maybe thats just because his peers are so slow, considering how small these guys are youd think they would be faster. PBF is a good 30lbs heavier and is faster for example. He doesnt have that killer instinct or aggresion either and seems very basic.

Put it this way, I wouldnt rank him amongst the likes of PBF, Pac, Calzaghe, Guzman, Hopkins, Wlad, JMM, Hatton, Rafael, Cotto, Vasquez etc. All those fighters and many more are so much more impressive. Hes probably more in the ranks of Cintron, Clinton Woods, Chagaev. Good fighters but not A+. Mijares is an A and Donaire is a A- at best. I do like the guy though, he seems very respectable in his interviews.

 

these rankings should be shaken up in a couple of months anyway, with the superfly eliminator in the works. castillo-montiel + mijares-navarro on the undercard of pac-marquez (i think it's pac-marquez, or is it another big fight?), with the winner of both fights meeting up later in the year for THE crown at superfly.
