Martinez impressed me versus Cintron. I dont have much experience seeing martinez fight. He doesnt look to me to have very impressive power though. the fact is..it is VERy hard to outwork Pwill for 12 rds. I favor Pwill on the cards.

    IM with you man.
Martinez moves very well to the side which is what Quintana used against PW. He gave him lateral movement and that confused the hell out of PW. Also has quite a bit of power. Enough to keep him honest.

SGM is an incredible boxer who we (American TV audiences) were tragically introduced to WAY too late...however, he is in over his head here.

Honestly Paul Chosing to fight Sergio could prove to be as dum an idea as Pav choosing to fight Paul. Cause if Carlos Quintana could give him problems with movement and counter punching Sergio can do the same.

Wouldn't shock me if he did, but I'm still pick Williams.

Williams will take him where he has never been.

    He might get stopped.

I think Martinez is going to make for a very tough fight for Paul Williams, but I still expect Williams to win.

One key thing that you guys are leaving out about Martinez...He tends to hang his hands by his waist and that spells trouble for him with a volume puncher...For each jab Martinez throws, he's going to recieve about 3-4 shots before he gets off his first shot.

People can bring up the first Quintana fight all they want, but Williams has since improved.

I agree, I favour Martinez in a close decision. PW's workrate won't count for as much with someone moving all over the place, Sergio's footwork is very good. Margarito was willing to stand in front of Paul and Winky decided to try to block everything, and as the girl in the audience said in their fight, "He can't block everything Paul!". Sergio will not be there to be hit.

The reason it will be close is due to the fact that Sergio likes to control the pace and he's not so much a counter puncher. He will move in and out and hit Paul but he will miss some oppurtunities and Paul will win rounds simply by working hard for it. I can see Martinez taking about 8 rounds in a good fight.

One problem here is that Martinez was BADLY robbed against Cintron and I'm sure HBO would like to keep its commitment to Pavlik vs. Williams, so the fix could be on and Sergio probably isn't knocking Paul out or even down.

Actually he has been there. Margarito took him there.

Sergio keeps his hands up until he is confident and has a good rythm going. Plus that's more of an issue with a huge power puncher which PW is not. Whether Paul has improved since Quintana we have no idea, Andy Kolle and Winky are not fast, athletic fighters.

    True,true.

But you could say he wasn't fully developed by then.

And Williams is probbaly an even harder test than Margarito.

Many people on this board picked Winky to school Williams when they first fought...To say he hasnt improved since the first Quintana fight is crazy... Williams is no Cintron and Cintron was able to hit Martinez with some good shots...Accurate or not, Martinez will pay once he decide to get cute by dropping his hands...You see Martinez lost when he faced a guy that has a high work rate...Williams is going to take it to Maritnez!:good
