    Over a large number of fights you may get some VERY SMALL indicator but not much more. Styles make fights so even against common opponents punch stats can fail. If you had a panel that went over the tapes and counted AND rated the quality of punches then you might have something. Even then you could have two crude sluggers trading punches. Each punch a significant landed power punch. I just can't bring myself to take the stats much seriousness. They only reinforce what you want them to reinforce.

  4. Yeah man, but we aren't talking about average opponents here. Read the article:

    Ok so maybe we don't need to interpret the numbers as "OMFG he's the GOAT," maybe it tells a whole different story. Maybe it shows just how well he's been at picking his opponents, either style-wise, age-wise, or a combination of both.
