You have to look at fights as:
00. Punches landed.
01. Fighting the smart fight. Bangers bang. Boxers box. When a boxer bangs or banger boxes? Classic.
02. Fighting the effective fight. Whatever game plan is right, do you work it to the fullest?

I think in this case you have to side with Haye. Valuev had all of the advantages. He was supposed to keep distance, double-triple the jab, and land the big straight. Forcing the smaller man to work his way in. What did he do? Follow his man and look like crap.

Valuev has the physical attributes to shut dudes down, but he just doesn't. In this case you have to give it to Haye.

 

Its very difficult to win a boxing match without landing any punches.

 

Andrew I take offense (Yes with an S! You "cheeky" *******, hahaha) to that, but I must cede the point. American heavyweights are all line backers in the NFL. We are hurting.

Let's get things straight. I agree that Haye wasn't spectacular, and he certainly didn't pull off a huge victory.

However, the fact remains that he connected much more when he hit Valuev, his punches were cleaner and more accurate, and his defensive movement was very effective.

At times he would drop his hands altogether and dodge Valuev's punches with head movement alone.

You seriously can't give the fight to Valuev when the guy hardly touched his opponent.

Haye wasn't much more active, but the few times he threw, he landed and he landed pretty well.

 

Yeah all the UKs super-middle, LHW, Crusiers and HW's are playing football or rugby

 

You can't score a fight for a man just walking at somebody, you have to land clean and effectively. I thought we were going to have another Froch vs Dirrell last night, where the aggressor landed few and very far between, and the slickster who landed hard, clean, effective shots was robbed of a victory.

I thought Haye looked good, showed good skill and effective power. His reflexes and defence were second to none.

Valuev looked amateurish when you compare it to Haye's controlled performance. Haye didn't have to control the centre of the ring or walk down his opponent; he done all his effective work when Valuev opened up with those slow and meaningless jabs.

Good fight for Haye, good victory, and I don't see another HW out there capable of beating him with his shear raw natural ability.

 

Well for a start I'm not American. So I don't care about whether Haye is American or not. Secondly I predicted a Haye win by 116-112. So I am not exactly worried about something I was 100% correct about.

But his fans are ****ing something else.

Dude do you think valuev won the fight?? He won like one or two rounds maximum. Haye did what he had to win, not in spectacular fashion but he won
